College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Orissa

 

 

The College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry which was earlier known as Odisha Veterinary College was established in Cuttack in the year 1955 under administrative control of Utkal University.  On 2nd January 1960, the college was established in its present campus in Bhubaneshwar with its first batch of students passing out in the same year.  

 

Subsequently, this 2nd oldest State Agriculture University in India was affiliated to Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in the year 1962.  Thereafter, it was renamed as College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.

 

The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry is located in a beautiful setting in OUAT Campus, Siripur Square, Near Surya Nagar Post Office, Surya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. 

 

The College is affiliated to Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology and is approved by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi.

 

Currently, the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry is imparting five and half year degree course BVSc. & AH to aspiring and eligible students.  At present 116 students are being admitted through common Entrance Examination conducted every year by OUAT and, all India quota seats (15%) filled up by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) through NEET.  More than 2775 students have successfully completed B.V.Sc. and A.H. course from this college since inception.

In addition, higher courses leading to Master (M.V.Sc) and Doctoral (Ph.D) degree are also imparted to the students. The Post Graduate program is running in 16 departments and Ph.D. program in 12 departments with intake capacity of 5 M.V.Sc students and 2 Ph.D students in each discipline, respectively.

 

Facilities provided by the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry include Library, Hostels, Sports, Placement, NSS, NCC, Co-curricular activities, Anti-ragging Committee, Excellent faculty, Help Desk, VCC, LFC and all Veterinary related departments and a variety of student centric services.   The college also provides Stipend/ Scholarships for deserving students,

Admission Process

Admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H.
Admission: Through NTA NEET UG score

On the basis of merit through NEET UG examination conducted by NTA.

Minimum Eligibility Qualification
10+2 examination/equivalent examination conducted by an Education Board/University/Council (duly recognized by the Rajasthan Board, CBSE, New Delhi) with not less than pass marks in each subject and not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. However, in the case of SC/ST candidates, the minimum aggregate required is 40%. OR Any examination of a University/Education Board/ College/School in a foreign country recognized by the Academic Council as an equivalent for the purpose with good knowledge of English.

Minimum Age
17 years on or before the 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year of B.V.Sc. & A.H. course.
