Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, one of the prestigious technical institutions in North Malabar was set up in 2003, under the aegis of Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, Talap, Kannur. Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam was formed by the great saint Sree Narayana Guru in 1907. Sree Sundareshwara Temple, Talap, Kannur, consecrated by Sree Narayana Guru in 1916 is the pivot of all the activities of the Yogam. The Yogam upholds the Guru's vision to enrich the people educationally, socially, culturally and spiritually.

Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam is working towards fulfilling Guru's vision, establishing educational institutions, working women's hostel and has been offering financial aid and endowments to deserving students. Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam has also set up Sree Narayana Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary school, one of the most reputed CBSE schools in Kannur District, Sree Narayana ITI and a working women’s hostel at Kannur. The institution has state of the art infrastructure in a sprawling campus of 60 acres with beautiful landscapes, well-planned buildings, well equipped labs, updated library, hostels and playground.

Library
The Central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, e-books, journals, e-journals, etc. The Library is automated by Book Magic Software with barcode facility. Central Library has an excellent collection of 22275 volumes of books with 6609 titles. 6 International and 54 national journals are subscribed. E-journals are subscribed through DELNET. Books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification scheme.

Library follows an open access system with an OPAC search facility. The library provides campus-wide IP- enabled access to NPTEL courses and other Electronic Resources. Reprographic, scanning and printing facilities are also made available in the library. Our Digital Library System is featured with 4350 e-books. SNGCET is an Institutional Member of DELNET (IM-9376). The institution has the membership of National Digital Library of India Club (Registration ID: INKLNC485J7ADWV).

Sports Complex
In the four-year bachelor degree program, students learn how important it is to live a healthy lifestyle. Learning the newest skills will help them to succeed in the fast-paced world of sports along with an opening for broad career opportunities. The sports complex of the college have several indoor activities such as Badminton, Chess, Caroms, table tennis, yoga and an outdoor multipurpose playground with 200m athletes track, facilities for playing and practicing football, cricket, volley ball, Kabaddi, handball, kho-kho,etc.

The college have successfully hosted many intra university competitions such as: KTU F- Zone Kabadi championship Kho-Kho kalaripayattu etc.

Campus Counselling Center at SNGCET
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Mental health is more than the absence of mental disorders. It exists on a complex continuum, which is experienced differently from one person to the next, with varying degrees of difficulty, distress and potentially very different social and clinical outcomes. Mental health conditions include mental disorders and psychosocial disabilities as well as other mental states associated with significant distress, impairment in functioning, or risk of self-harm.
Attending college can be a stressful time for many students. In addition to coping with academic pressure, some students have to deal with the stressful tasks of separation and individuation from their family of origin while some may have to attend to numerous work and family responsibilities. In this context, many college students experience the first onset of mental health and substance use problems or an exacerbation of their symptoms.
In order to promote mental health of students, the management of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology has established a Student Counseling Center in campus from June 2023. A spacious room was allotted for the functioning of the campus counselling centre. The counselling center will be active on every Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. In case of emergency this timing can be varied. The counselling center aims to provide mental health services for students. The activities and programs organized by the counselling centre includes

With the intention of introducing the importance of mental health on students, the psychologist had a session with every student departmentwise. There are five departments in the campus. The five teaching departments in the campus includes- Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering And Department of Computer Science and Engineering. There are more than 200 students in the campus. Also each student is personally had an interactive talk with the psychologist during which the students were able to freely express their concerns and difficulty. This process is still on progress. This process seem to be helpful for the students in their decision making, goal setting, stress management, emotion regulation etc.
Most students of the campus belong to the adolescence age group. Adolescence is a unique and formative time. Protecting adolescents from adversity, promoting socio-emotional learning and psychological well-being, and ensuring access to mental health care are critical for their health and well-being during adolescence and adulthood.
Individual counselling sessions are provided to students for their issues related to academics, social, emotional, psychological, behavioural and physical struggles. The aim of the session is to help the child overcome the problem and deal effectively with the environment. If required, the students are referred to external agencies for further psychological assessment and support.
A total of 30+ sessions were conducted. The major symptoms addressed during the process includes emotional problems, negative thoughts, suicidal thoughts, academic stress, anxiety, relationship issues, anger, unhealthy habits and depressive symptoms. Cognitive behaviour therapy was mostly applied. Techniques like relaxation training, breathing exercises etc. were taught for people with anxiety issues.

JHANSI RANI BLOCK
Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology offers accommodations for female students. The college offers its P.G. and U.G. students a hostel facility. Students can study in a disciplined, safe, quiet, clean, and tranquil environment in our hostels, which also promote personal development. Housing for 300 students is provided by SNGCET in an outstanding quality, reasonably priced hostel. The environment is favourable for learning and leisure activities, and the infrastructure is contemporary.

There are study rooms, gymnasium, play area, and mess area. Students are welcome to use the on-site fitness center and sports facilities in the residence hall building. The goal of our hostel is the students' intellectual, cultural, moral, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. The hostel has about sixty rooms. The mess halls and kitchens are equipped with contemporary conveniences. A pleasant and stress-free environment is ideal for students' growth and education. Security services are offered around-the-clock.



SWAMI VIVEKANANDA BLOCK
The mens hostel offers a secure and comfortable living environment for male students. The hostel can accommodate up to 300 inmates. With spacious rooms, modern amenities, and a conducive atmosphere for studying, it aims to create a home away from home. The facility prioritizes safety, hygiene, and community, fostering a sense of camaraderie among residents. Staff is dedicated to ensuring a positive living experience, addressing any concerns promptly. The hostel strives to contribute to the overall well-being and academic success of its residents.

The mens hostel is strategically located in close proximity to academic buildings, providing easy access to classrooms and study spaces. Each room is equipped with essential furniture, study desks, and ample storage to meet the diverse needs of residents. Regular cleaning and maintenance routines uphold cleanliness standards throughout the facility. A dedicated warden or supervisor oversees the well-being of students and provides guidance when needed.

In addition to the academic support, the hostel administration aims to create a holistic living experience. Health and fitness facilities, such as a gym contribute to the overall well-being of residents.

College Canteen
The objective of the Canteen and meal service is to protect by reducing the risk of foodborne illness, with proper sanitary conditions, and preventing adulterated food. From the very beginning of the College in 2003, the College Canteen has been functioning efficiently. The canteen is located inside the College. The hostellers and day scholars are provided meals by assuring food safety and quality.

The Contractor of the Canteen is selected according to the available and suitable quotations. A well-experienced person in food services management, his team is managing, the canteen of SNGCET. Students and staff of the College are benefited by the College canteen. The waste utilization of the canteen is efficiently done through the waste recycling plant installed on the campus. The management is fully committed to keeping the quality of the canteen for the utmost benefit of all concerned.

INDETRIBE
The college music band – INDETRIBE took the stage by storm during their music performance held in the temple premises which is administrated by our management on 30 th March 2023. The event showcased the incredible musical talents of our students. The band's electrifying performance featured a diverse range of genres,from rock to classical, leaving the audience spellbound. The musicians' skill and passion were evident in every note, as they flawlessly executed intricate melodies and harmonies. It was a night to remember, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating their next show.

Gym
The Hostel Gymnasium at SNGCET is a well-equipped space designed to cater to the diverse fitness goals of our students. Here, residents have access to modern exercise equipment, including cardio machines, strength training apparatus, free weights, and other fitness essentials. Whether one aims to build strength, enhance cardiovascular health, or simply stay active, our gym provides the necessary tools and environment to support these endeavors.

The gymnasium is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Regular maintenance schedules and hygiene protocols are in place to provide a comfortable and safe workout environment for all users.

Transport facility
The Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology provides bus facilities to students and staff. Our robust transportation facilities are designed to provide a seamless and convenient journey, ensuring that everyone can focus on what matters most – their education.

Our dedicated fleet of buses operates on well-planned routes, covering key residential areas and connecting them directly to the campus. With timely schedules and reliable services. College has Six buses. Currently Kannur, Thaliparamba, Pazhayangadi, Kanhangad, Payyanur are the main destinations of college’s buses.

There is a bus committee constituted by the principal to decide the matters related to the timings. The principle established a bus committee to make decisions regarding times, routes, fees, and so on. The bus secretary typically handles day-to-day administrative issues related to the bus.
