About

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), a unit of Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust (SVEHT), was inaugurated by the then Governor of Tamil Nadu, Hon'ble Shri S L Khurana.  The Trust itself was founded in the same year at the behest  and with the benign blessings of His Holiness Pujashree Kanchi Kamakoti Peedathipathi Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.   The inaugural function of the college complex at Nazarathpet took place on 8th April 1985. Formal academic classes were inaugurated by Mr C. Subramanian on 19th August 1985.

SVCE was established by the Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) group.  Dr. A. C. Muthiah, a renowned Engineer, Industrialist and Philanthropist, is the Chairman of the Governing Council of SVCE,  which is the Apex body of the college. In 1991, the college shifted into its new campus at Pennalur, near the town of Sriperumbudur, Tamilnadu. The GRIHAPRAVESAM function of the new Campus was performed on 25.07.1991. The Campus houses a Vinayaka temple "SRI VIJAYA GANAPATHI ALAYAM".  Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education the same year. Courses in electrical & electronics engineering and chemical engineering were started in 1994.  

The major objective of this Institution was to plan and implement a Program of Education in Engineering and Allied Sciences in order to promote Research, to disseminate Knowledge and to foster Cooperation and Exchange of Ideas between the Academic Community and Industrial Organizations and to develop Entrepreneurship skills among students. It strives to achieve Academic Excellence along with the harmonious development of Personality of students.

SVCE celebrated its decennium on 16.03.1996 in the presence of former Minister of State for Commerce and present home minister of the Government of India Sri. P. Chidambaram. In 1996 it began a course in Information Technology and became the first college in the country to do so.  The college conducted its first Graduation Day  on 10.01.2009 with the eminent scientist Dr. Mayilswamy Annadurai as the Guest of honour.  Academic year 2009-10 was the Silver Jubilee Year of the College. The college conducted the second Graduation Day on 29.3.2010 with the eminent scientist Dr Thirumalachari Ramasami as the Guest of honour. The college obtained an ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2002. SVCE obtained autonomy from UGC in 2016.

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Kanchipuram is a premier Institute located in  an area of about 94 acres of land, with excellent infrastructural facilities that include Instructional Buildings, Laboratories, Workshops, Faculty Rooms, Office, Conference Hall, Dispensary, Technology Innovation Centre, Staff Quarters, Guest House, Open Air Auditorium, Library, Canteen, Hostels, Swimming Pool, RO Plant, Shuttle Service, Wi-Fi connectivity, Gymnasium, Indoor Sports Complex and Play Grounds.  

SVCE offers  23 UG and 11 PG Full Time courses, all of which are Affiliated to Anna Universtity, Chennai.  Candidates can pursue in multiple range of courses like B.E. / B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech wherein students gain proficiency & expertise in the specialization of Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Power Engineering. Courses offered by institute are recognized and acknowlegded by approving bodies like AICTE. SVCE has a 14,400 sq ft Library spanning three floors covering major fields of Science and Engineering, a Conference Room, a Study Space and a Seating capacity of over 200. The Library is Air-conditioned and has Conferencing, Multimedia, Internet, Reprography Facilities, a CD-ROM collection. and a Book Bank for studentS. The college subscribes to most of the major Technical Journals including those by the IEEE, ACM and ASME. Over 1,04,694 volumes and 1725 CDs are available and around 400 Print and Online Journals are subscribed.  Apart from the Central Library, all Departments maintain their own Libraries. SVCE is an Institutional member of The British Council Library, IIT Madras, American Council Library, DELNET and MALIBNET. The Library uses Multimedia Computers with Internet Connectivity, Computer-based Training, CDs, E-books and E-journals to promote E-learning

Admission Process

• Government Quota: Admissions are conducted through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process managed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE).
  
• Management Quota: The remaining seats are filled through the college's management quota, adhering to government norms.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

M.E / M.Tech - 2 Year Course

Admission Process

Admissions are based on scores obtained in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) or the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Consortium of Colleges.

The campus is equipped with 24/7 high-speed fiber optic internet and an intranet system that provides access to exam schedules, campus news, and a digital library. Transport

The College provides transportation between different districts around and College. 60 buses are operated for Students and Staff of SVCE. Transport is also provided for sports, library, laboratory and late evening classes. Buses are operated on Saturdays and Sundays for special classes, NCC, Sports, etc. On special occasions, buses are utilised for Industrial visits and Social service activities. A transport committee, headed by a Convenor, is formed to take care of the smooth operation of buses. The staff in-charge of the buses (one teaching and one supporting) ensure the smooth functioning of the buses. The Transport committee meets once in Six months.
