Sri Venkateswara Dental College & Hospital, a unit of Vels Group of Institutions was started in the year 2007 with the main objective to produce high quality Dental Surgeons and provide quality Dental treatment to the rural population.  It is one of the dream projects of Founder Chairman Dr. Isari K. Ganesh and aims to provide a strong academic base and patient-centered practical education with excellent research facilities and fully equipped clinics.

Dentistry has advanced as a science, matured as an art, and gained the society’s respect as a profession over the last few decades and today sits at the cusp of a scientific revolution in technologies that could change the very nature of this field.  Recent advances in material science have created vast opportunities and challenges to the future of this profession. Sri Venkateswara Dental College and Hospital intend to prepare students in such a way that they are offered the best and the right educational environment in dental medicine, producing professionals who possess the capacity and ability to deal with an ever-increasing knowledge base and rapid technological changes.  Innovative research facilities and teaching methodologies have been introduced which will greatly help to create an atmosphere essential for acquiring a high academic standard.

SVDCH is set in an ideal location in a spacious Campus in 10.22 acres with about 2200 sq.mt of constructed area off Old Mahabalipuram Road, Thalambur Rd, Near Navalur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Sri Venkateswara Dental College & Hospital is Affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. It is Recognized by the Dental Council of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and is Accredited by NAAC (A++).

SVDCH Offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) with an annual intake of 100 seats and PG programs in the following streams:

M.D.S. - Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

M.D.S. - Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

M.D.S. - Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge

M.D.S. - Periodontics and Oral Implantology

The policy of the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu is followed for admissions.  The eligibility for admission to BDS Degree Course is based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) and (NEET PG) for the MDS programs.

The SVD College aims to provide quality education and advanced training to the students, thus producing competent dental graduates, who have sound knowledge and excellent skills for rendering the best of oral health care to the society. The college boasts of its highly qualified and experienced faculty. It is housed in spacious, well planned building which accommodates all the departments, equipped with 'state-of-the-art' facilities. Our Vision

Age Limit
The student should have completed 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.

Eligibility
The student should have passed Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects.
In order to become eligible for admission to BDS Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to MBBS / BDS Courses held for the said Academic Year.
However, in respect of Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile.

Placements: Almost 50 percent students are placed the lowest package is 3,00,000 per annum and the highest package is 20,00,000 per annum. HCL, Infosys are the top recruiting companies in our college. Mostly People from ECE and CSE department people get placed in companies.

Scholarships for eligible candidates are given by the central and state governments. The students have to apply within 21 days from their admission. The management provides fee concessions to the most deserving students who score ranks in the university examinations.

Boys Hostel
Sri Venkateswara Dental College and Hospital provide accommodation facilities for both students and staff. The ambiance of these facilities makes them feel at home. The boys have 73 rooms respectively. Rooms of various sizes that can accommodate two or three or four students are available. Each room is equipped with a cot, study table, cupboard, table, chair with good lighting and adequate ventilation. The hostel is supported with 24 hours power back up facility and clean drinking water filtered using the R.O system.


Girls Hostel
Sri Venkateswara Dental College and Hospital provide accommodation facilities for both students and staff. The ambiance of these facilities makes them feel at home. The girl's hostel has 143 rooms respectively. Rooms of various sizes that can accommodate two or three or four students are available. Each room is equipped with a cot, study table, cupboard, table, chair with good lighting and adequate ventilation. The hostel is supported with 24 hours power back up facility and clean drinking water filtered using the R.O system.


Medical/Hospital
The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.


Library
The central library of the institution serves as the ‘Center for knowledge’ with a seating capacity of 200 – 300. It houses 3260 books with 1097 back volumes. A total of 15 national and international journals are subscribed to in the library. Further, it has e-learning resources in the form of EBSCO and ERMED. It has various sections including staff reading room, journal section, reading hall, stack section, and a photocopying facility. The library functions from 8.30 A.M to 8.00 P.M. Faculty and students can avail of the borrowing facility against their Identity card.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

Cafeteria
The messes in the campus are run through a catering contractor. There are separate dining portions for girls and boys. The mess is provided with the latest infrastructure and adequate ventilation and exhaust fans est., About 200 students can dine at any given time. In addition to the above, a separate cafeteria to cater to the need of the day scholars is also available here. Good quality raw materials are used in this canteen and cooking is done with R.O water provided by the management.
