The University of Ladakh, commonly known as UoL, is a public state university located in the Union Territory of Ladakh, India. It was established in 2019 under the University of Ladakh Act after the formation of Ladakh as a separate Union Territory. The university was founded by the Government of India and the Administration of Ladakh. It is not run by any private trust. The main purpose of establishing the university is to provide accessible higher education to students of the remote Himalayan region, promote region specific research, preserve local culture, and support sustainable development in Ladakh.
The University of Ladakh has its main administrative presence and campuses in Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh. The Leh campus is located in the Leh region, while the Kargil campus is situated at Khumbathang Saliskote, Kargil. The exact campus size in acres or hectares has not been officially published by the university. The university follows a cluster university model and also governs several constituent colleges spread across Ladakh including remote areas. The campuses are approachable by road and connected through local transport, with Leh being accessible by air during most of the year.

The university provides basic academic infrastructure including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer centers, sports facilities and hostels in selected campuses. Facilities are being developed in phases due to the challenging terrain and climatic conditions of Ladakh. Placements at the University of Ladakh are still at a developing stage. As a new university, formal placement cells are evolving, and most graduates currently pursue higher studies, government jobs, research, teaching, agriculture related work, tourism or self employment.
