National Institute of Technology Srinagar commonly known as NIT Srinagar is located in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a public technical institute and an institute of national importance. The institute was established in the year 1960 as Regional Engineering College Srinagar and was later upgraded to National Institute of Technology in 2003. It functions under the Ministry of Education Government of India.
