Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakanur (GCE-Bodi) started in 2012 with its temporary building at Kalapandiyan Polytechnic College, Sillamarathupatti, Bodinayakkanur. The permanent building of Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur was inaugurated by then Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Dr.J.Jayalalitha on in June 2015 through Video Conferencing for the welfare of western part of Tamilnadu students.

GCE-Bodi covers an area of 10.06 acres. The college is located in the heart of the “Cardamom City” in a very green and clean surrounding away from city pollution making it an ideal location for higher learning. It is situated at Melachokkanathapuram, Bodinayakkanur, Theni Dist, Tamil Nadu. Both, Madurai Junction Railway Station and Madurai Airport are 45 Kms from the College Campus.

GCE-Bodi is a Tamilnadu Government Institution, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The College offers UG Programs through 5 Disciplines namely, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Communication Engineering & Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The College has Scholarship Facility. It has BC/MBC Scholarship, SC/ST Scholarship, Chief Minister's Award for SC/ST Students, Central Sector Scheme Scholarship, Pragathi Scholarship, Farmers Nalavariyam, Minotity Scholarship & Higher Education Scholarship for SC/ST Hostel Students. The Mechanical Engineering Dept has an MOU with CADD Tech Edu, Bodinayakanur for a 3 Year period from March. Such MOUs with the industry can minimize the gap between learning and career opportunity of students in Industrial Trainings, Internships, Guest Lectures by Industrial experts and more.

Infrastructure and Facilities at the College are impressive. Boys and Girls Hostel of which The Principal of the College is also the Warden, a well equipped and stocked Library with 11800 Volumes of Books in 8555 Titles covering different disciplines, Sports and Games Facility, Gym, Cafeteria, Electricity back up, 24 Hous Drinking Water, Cafeteria. It also has 20 Computers within the Library with 150 CD's and an average 50 Users per day. The College has various other Facilities / Committees for the convenience of the Students. A well equipped library has 11,800 volume of books in 8555 titles on different disciplines covering all major fields. The library is also having Educational Audio & Video Cassettes, CDs, Back Volumes, Project Reports, Thesis reports etc. Apart from studies related books, number of Text guides are available in reference section for competitive exams like GRE, Civil Service Exam, TOEFL, Defence Service exam. The library works for 8 hours a day, on all working days (9 am to 5 pm). On Saturdays, Library is kept open for reference from 10 am to 5.30 pm.
