Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust was started by our Founder Chancellor Dr A. Shanmugasundaram in the year 1981 to serve the needy in the society. The trust established its very first medical college at Pondicherry, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital, in the year 2000. Located at Pondicherry- Cuddalore Road, a national highway, the self-contained and serene campus is spread over 44 acres of lush green lands.

Initially, it was affiliated to Pondicherry University, the institution subsequently came under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation Deemed to be University, in the year 2004. The institution offers postgraduate courses in 16 disciplines and PhD programmes across various specialities and interdisciplinary areas as on 2021. The MBBS programme was started in the year 2000-2001 and continued ever since. As on 2021, the annual intake is 150 MBBS and 88 postgraduate students; currently, over 750 undergraduate and postgraduate students are pursuing their studies at AVMCH.

Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital offers patient care, diagnostic, rehabilitative, preventive and pharmacy services. With its fully equipped ICCU, ICU, PICU, NICU and high dependency areas, modular operation theatres equipped with contemporary anaesthesia equipment, the broad and super-speciality departments of cardiology, urology, medical gastroenterology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery and nephrology, AVMC Hospital offers state-of-art tertiary care services to the people of the union territory of Pondicherry and the nearby districts of Tamil Nadu. Various government and third-party insurance schemes are also functional in the system.

Admission Procedure
UG Programme : MBBS (4½ Years + 1 Year CRMI)
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for admission to MBBS Degree Course, a candidate must have passed in 10+2 / H.Sc. (or) its equivalent examination with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology at the Qualifying Examination and in addition, must have come in the merit list of NEET -UG for admission to MBBS Degree Course.
In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in PCB / Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying Examinations must be 40% marks instead of 50%. In respect of candidates with PWD (Persons with Disabilities) the minimum marks shall be 45% for general and 40% for SC/ST/OBC category.
In order to become eligible for admission to MBBS Degree Course for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of 50th percentile marks in NEET UG. However, in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category the minimum marks must be 40th percentile and PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates the minimum marks shall be 45th Percentile for general category and 40th Percentile for SC/ST/OBC category.
Candidate shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

PG Programme : MD | MS – 3 Years
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A Pass in MBBS Degree Course or an equivalent qualification and should have obtained a minimum eligibility percentile in NEET- PG.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admissions will be made for UG & PG Degree programmes through online counseling will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family welfare, Government of India, New Delhi on the basis of Marks obtained in the NEET Examinations and the eligibility criteria prescribed by the NMC regulations in accordance with the guidelines and directions issued by the Hono’ble Supreme Court of India / Government of India / National Medical Commission, New Delhi and VMRF-DU from time to time.

AVMC Puducherry Placements
Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital Placements 2023: The college provides placement opportunities to final-year students. As per the NIRF 2023 report, out of 64 UG students 61 students were placed with Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital median salary package of Rs 5,20,000 and 3 students opted for higher studies. 26 PG students were placed with a median salary package of Rs 15,00,000.
