Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was established in the year 1986 at BG Nagar, near Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra with a vision of providing medical education to aspiring students from rural areas.AIMS was inaugurated by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde on 17th Jan 1986 in the holy presence of Padmabhushana Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji. AIMS has evolved into a prestigious institution in the region since its inception.

Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science is a medical college located in Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra, Karnataka. It was established in the year 1986 by the CM of Karnataka. It has now made its position among the best medical colleges of the city. The colleges’ motto has always been to provide the students with all the facilities and training to turn them into good healthcare providers of the future. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

The college is approved by the Government of Karnataka and Medical Council of India and accredited by many associations. There are some courses which are approved by the government and those are MBBS and MD/MS. Admission Criteria

MBBS Admission

Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science runs 4 ½ years MBBS program with 1 year of rotational internship and total intake of 150 students. Candidates who have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology subjects from a recognized Board and have qualified NEET conducted by CBSE are considered eligible for admission to MBBS course. Admission to the qualified applicants is given on the basis of their NEET merit through KEA counselling conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority in two rounds.

MS, MD,Admission

Three-year MD program with 12 specializations, MS course with 5 specializations, and two-year Diploma in 8 disciplines is run by Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences. Candidates who hold MBBS Degree or its equivalent and have qualified NEET-PG and have been registered with the Medical Council of India or Dental Council are considered eligible for admission to MD, MS, and Diploma program. Admission to PG programs is given through NEET-PG or State Government Common Entrance Test (CET) for 33% of the seats, through COMED-K for 42% of the seats, and directly on the merit-basis under the Management Quota against 25% seats.

At AIMS separate UG and PG hostels for boys and girls accommodate up to 2000+ students with a choice of individual and shared rooms. Transport

AIMS operates four buses that transport students from the hostels to the hospital and other rural health clinics for teaching and training purposes. Staff and students who provide community healthcare services have access to three vehicles. Each of the five ambulances attached to AH & RC is equipped with cardiopulmonary resuscitators, trained and qualified medical and paramedical staff, emergency medications, and an oxygen cylinder, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Because it is a referral hospital, ambulances are used to transport patients from nearby hospitals and regions. Using the collegian, educational tours are held on a regular basis.
