Alva’s Degree College is one among the institutions of Alva’s Education Foundation, stands-out among the colleges affiliated to Mangalore University for its prominent and notably distinguished performances in sports, cultural and academics since its inception in the year 1998.The college provides the students a solid platform for self-realization and moulds them into talented young men and women for their better tomorrow. Alva’s College is a unique Educational Institution that embodies all academic, cultural and sports characteristics. It offers a wide range of graduate and post graduate programs and traditional courses redesigned with new combinations to link them closely with employment market. At present, it offers 28 UG (Undergraduate) and 21 PG (Post Graduate) programmes. The culturally rich milieu, the atmosphere of discipline and yearlong activities make the students’ life eventful. Apart from academics, students are also engaged in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The college ranks first in academic results as well as students strength at Mangalore University and hence it is recognized as a premier institute under Mangalore University. Admission
Students seeking admission should submit the duly filled in application form along with the prescribed registration fee within the date notified on the college notice board. A certified copy of the Marks list of the qualifying examination should also be attached.

Eligibility
Eligibility for admission to undergraduate programme:
A candidate who has completed two years of pre-university course from Karnataka or any other state of India or completed the equivalent course recognized by Mangalore University is eligible for admission .

Eligibility for admission to Post graduate programme:
A candidate who has completed relevant graduate programme from Mangalore University or any University from India or foreign countries considered as equivalent by Mangalore University is eligible for admission.

Process
Application forms can be obtained from the Admission officers on payment of Rs. 150/- in cash or by DD drawn in favour of “The Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation ® , Moodbidri” . Application forms filled in, complete with all the information asked for, in the candidate’s own hand writing, should be registered in Admission Office by the due date with registration fee Rs. 150/-. Applications received by post will be registered only if a DD of Rs. 150/- payable to the “The Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation®, Moodbidri” is enclosed. An acknowledgement will be sent only if a self addressed post card is enclosed.

Students who do not appear for the interview on the specified day are liable to lose the seat provisionally allotted to them. Students who are finally selected after the interview should pay the fees immediately. The fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Selected students who do not pay the fees or after paying the fees do not attend the class for five consecutive days, will forfeit their seats. Original documents should be submitted to the college office while paying the fees.

The students shall keep sufficient attested xerox copies of their original documents/certificates.

Issue Of Eligibility Certificate

The students who have studied outside Karnataka shall get the eligibility certificate from Mangalore University at the time of admission. Candidates will not be admitted without obtaining the eligibility certificate from Mangalore University.

Foreign Students

Foreign students are admitted with their proper long term valid student visas only. The admission is confirmed only after the approval from the Mangalore University.

Library
The College Library is equipped to meet the essential academic and intellectual needs of its students. It houses books which include reference books like encyclopedias, dictionaries, competitive examination books, etc. An open-access system, Online Public Access Catalog, and spacious reading rooms provide an atmosphere conducive to study.

Boys Hostel
The college provides excellent Hostel facilities for boys with 24 hours of uninterrupted power and water supply. All the hostels are well-maintained and supervised by the wardens. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in the hostel and legal action would be taken against such students who indulge in such activities. The rules and regulations of the hostel have to be followed strictly.

Medical/Hospital
Dr. M. Mohan Alva, the chairperson of Alva’s Health Centre (AHC). He established this institution on May 31st, 1986 and since then the aim of AHC has only been to provide effective and affordable medical care and facilities to people in and around Moodbidri who otherwise had to travel a minimum of 40 km to get basic medical treatments. From a small establishment, ACH is now a 200 bedded hospital/healthcare center offering multidisciplinary services, thus achieving its prime purpose of promoting healthcare for the underprivileged in the community.


Transport Facility
The College has owned a fleet of buses to carry students from the hostel to the college. this is a convenient and comfortable means of transport which saves a lot of time for students and avoids anxiety among the parents.


Sports
Ample opportunities are created for students to participate in sports and games. Meritorious Sports training by professional Coaches for different sports and games and financial support to participate at university, state, National, and International level athletic meets. The motivation for personal and group achievements in Sports and games, Special training to rewrite the meet records are some of the special attractions of AEF. Well-equipped Alva’s Multi – gymnasium and Weightlift gym with trained professional coaches are made available. Standard 400 mts track and playground (field) for all the game events are also provided for extensive practice. Special scholarship for outstanding Sports persons is offered by AEF.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.
