Alva's Institute Of Engineering and Technology (AIET)
Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology is a premier engineering college in Mijar which was established in the year 2008 by Alva's Education Foundation (AEF) to provide affordable quality professional education to the youth of this underdeveloped region. AEF which was born out of the entrepreneurial vision of Dr M Mohan Alva, an Ayurvedic doctor, an educationalist and a social reformer in Moodubidri, aims at holistic development of students who will ultimately become responsible citizens of this country. Over the years AIET has launched path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and evolving curricula, adopting Holistic Education, insistence on strict academic discipline and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated Staff. The current principal of the college is F Peter Fernandes.
Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology is spread in a campus of more than 30 sections of land named Alva’s Shobhavana Campus in Mijar, Moodubidire, Mangalore, DK, Karnataka. The infrastructure is dotted amidst 144 sections of land spread on a well known natural garden with more than two thousand assortment of home grown plants. The college campus is around 33 km from Mangalore and is well connected by rail, road and air.
The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and recognised by AICTE and University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. In the last academic year two of its departments Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Department have secured NBA accreditation.
AIET in its endeavour to excel in teaching, research and service offers a number of UG and PG programs in the field of Engineering and Management. The UG courses include BTech degree programs in 7 disciplines. The PG degree Programs include MTech in 3 disciplines and MBA. The admission to BTech courses is based on KCET scores. To be eligible for admission to B. Tech program in Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University), candidates must have passed class 12 with Physics and Chemistry with minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST). The selection is done on the basis of the written test by KCET. The admission to MBA program is done on the basis of a written test in the KMAT/GMAT/CAT exam.
Merit cum Means Scholarship is available to minority community students (Muslims, Jains, Christians, Parsis and Zorastrians) and Karnataka E Pass scholarship available for OBC students pursuing engineering and management studies. Moreover, Alva’s Education Foundation awards scholarships to Meritorious and deserving students.
Amenities and Facilities provided at Alva’s is world class and includes Library, Reprographic Centre, Digital Library, Herbarium, Well-equipped Laboratories, Stationary store, Computer and Internet Services, Wi-Fi, Transport, Hostel, Canteen, ATM, Auditorium, Hospital (with Naturopathic, Allopathic, Ayurvedic and Homoeo systems of treatment), Yoga Centre, free Health counselling, Sports, Gym, etc. In addition the Institute also has various Clubs like NSS, NCC, Rostrum, Kannada Sangha, Tulu Sangha, Fine Arts, Auto Club, Nature Club, Algoris Club to encourage the students in showcasing their extra- curricular talent and support in their overall holistic development.
The dedicated Training and Placement Department of AIET has a T & P Head who overlooks all placement activities. The Department provides personal and career related support to the students with special emphasis on training programs for enhancing employability skills and ultimately provide placement in various Industries/Organizations by arranging Campus Recruitment Drives. Top Recruiters L&T Info, Mitsubishi, Mphasis, Nandi Toyota, Netconnect, Ninja cart, Oracle, Prakruti, Robosoft Technologies, Royal Arabian, SAP, SSI, STRATA, Swiggy, Syngene, TCS, Keynes Tech, Virtusa, Wipro, Amazon, Bosch, etc are regular visitors to the campus for absorbing deserving students into good positions.
