Alva's Institute Of Engineering and Technology (AIET)

Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology is a premier engineering college in Mijar which was established in the year 2008 by Alva's Education Foundation (AEF) to provide affordable quality professional education to the youth of this underdeveloped region.  AEF which was born out of the entrepreneurial vision of Dr M Mohan Alva, an Ayurvedic doctor, an educationalist and a social reformer in Moodubidri, aims at holistic development of students who will ultimately become responsible citizens of this country.  Over the years AIET has launched path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and evolving curricula, adopting Holistic Education, insistence on strict academic discipline and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated Staff. The current principal of the college is F Peter Fernandes.

 
Alva's Institute of Engineering and Technology is spread in a campus of more than 30 sections of land named Alva’s Shobhavana Campus in Mijar, Moodubidire, Mangalore, DK, Karnataka.  The infrastructure is dotted amidst 144 sections of land spread on a well known natural garden with more than two thousand assortment of home grown plants.  The college campus is around 33 km from Mangalore and  is well connected by rail, road and air.

 
The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and recognised by AICTE and University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.  In the last academic year two of its departments Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Department have secured NBA accreditation.

 
AIET in its endeavour to excel in teaching, research and service offers a number of UG and PG programs in the field of Engineering and Management.  The UG courses include BTech degree programs in 7 disciplines.  The PG degree Programs include MTech in 3 disciplines and MBA.   The admission to BTech courses is based on KCET scores.  For the MBA program

To be eligible for admission to B. Tech program in Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University), candidates must have passed class 12 with Physics and Chemistry with minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST). The selection is done on the basis of the written test by KCET.  The admission to MBA program is done on the basis of a written test in the KMAT/GMAT/CAT exam.

 
Merit cum Means Scholarship is available to minority community students (Muslims, Jains, Christians, Parsis and Zorastrians) and Karnataka E Pass scholarship available for OBC students pursuing engineering and management studies. Moreover, Alva’s Education Foundation awards scholarships to Meritorious and deserving students.

The dedicated Training and Placement Department of AIET has a T & P Head who overlooks all placement activities. The Department provides personal and career related support to the students with special emphasis on training programs for enhancing employability skills and ultimately provide placement in various Industries/Organizations by arranging Campus Recruitment Drives.  Top Recruiters L&T Info, Mitsubishi, Mphasis, Nandi Toyota, Netconnect, Ninja cart, Oracle, Prakruti, Robosoft Technologies, Royal Arabian, SAP, SSI, STRATA, Swiggy, Syngene, TCS, Keynes Tech, Virtusa, Wipro, Amazon, Bosch, etc are regular visitors to the campus for absorbing deserving students into good positions.

Step 1. Fill in the Application Form

Step 2. Personal Interview

• All applications are thoroughly reviewed by the admissions committee. Shortlisted students will be called for a personal interview in 5 working days.  (Personal interview would take place via skype/hangouts. Local students could visit the campus at Mijar, Moodbidri).
• For the personal interview, students are expected to dress formally, carry their laptops, know the recent updates on the respective program they are applying for and carry the hardcopies of documents mentioned in Step 5.
• Students who wish to apply for scholarships will have to mention the same during their interview with the admission committee.  The application will be considered if the application has met the eligibility criteria for scholarship.
• The eligibility criteria for scholarship at AIET are:
  • Who have scored 75% and above or have a CGPA score of minimum 7.5 on 10 in the last appeared exam can apply.
  • Student who have appeared for any competitive entrance exams and have scored 70% and above can apply (CET and COMED-K Entrance Test for BE students; and PGCET, CAT, MAT, KMAT for MBA students)
  • Students who want to apply for financing option are requested to inform AIET’s Admission Committee during the personal interview.

Step 3. Application Review

• After successful completion of the personal interview/scholarship test, qualified applicants will receive a letter of admission via email and call from AIET’s Admission Committee within 3 working days.
• If a student has applied for the scholarship then it may take upto 14 working days for AIET’s Admission Committee to declare the result.
• If the applicant is granted a scholarship, the revised fee structure for the same will be shared on mail. (Note – INR 10000 will be granted as scholarship)

Step 4. Confirming Your Admission

• If a student has been accepted for the program applied then the applicant has to pay the registration fee / full fees within 7 working days after receiving confirmation from AIET.
• Submit a photocopy of all the documents as proof at the time of admission.

Important Information

• Application form fees INR – once paid are non-refundable/non-transferable in any scenario.
• AIET reserves the right to accept / reject the applicant’s application.
• Registration/Admission/Tuition fees once paid are conditionally refundable up to certain days and certain amount.
• Fees paid for one program cannot be transferred to another program or to another person.
• If a student wants to apply for batch transfer, he/she will have to pay a batch transfer fee.

Training & Placement
The Training and Placement Department of the institute has a Training and Placement Head who overlooks overall placement activities right from the design, training and execution of placement drive under the supervision of various heads of the department and its respective departmental level placement leads & coordinators and the institute.

HOSTEL

Alva’s Institute of Engineering & Technology provides the best facilities for the students who live on the hostel. Separate hostels for boys and girls with spacious rooms. Hostel students can access the Wi-Fi facility. The study hour is from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm is compulsory and strict discipline will be maintained. The inmates of hostel are provided with reading table, chair, cot and fans. Recreational Facilities including gymnasium are also well provided.
