Anjalai Ammal-Mahalingam Engineering College (AAMEC) is a private institution located in Kovilvenni near Needamangalam, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1995, offering higher education in Engineering and Management.AAMEC fulfils its illustrious Founder and veteran railway union leader Shri. M. Namasivayam's scintillating dream and ennobling vision to establish a temple of learning, far from the maddening crowd of the cities and yet having all the facilities of a well developed urban campus, imparting technical education at international standards, accessible to students from far and near, rich and poor alike.   The college is ideally located, flanked by the National Highways and Railway lines. Institution was named after the late parents of Founder Chairman (i.e.) Anjalai Ammal-Mahalingam Engineering College and started functioning from the academic year 1995-1996 with the sole motto “Character Health and Education”.

The Founder-Chairman, with a long-time prospective vision, identified a serene and calm atmosphere near his native place and established an Engineering College at Koyilvenni on the Thanjavur-Nagapattinam National Highway (NH67) to cater to the socially and economically backward classes especially for rural folk.  The founder desired and directed that AAMEC should be a trend setter in technical education.  Apart from establishing the Technical Institution, he has also founded “Balamurugan Charitable Trust” in memory of his son and the trust is rendering financial aid to the poor and downtrodden society and also involving in Social activities.

The College is located in a sprawling campus of about 65 acres of land at the historic site of Kovilvenni, within the limits of Thiruvarur district at a distance of just 25 kilometers from Thanjavur towards Nagapattinam. AAMEC is well served by both road & rail. The Thanjavur – Nagapattinam National Highway(NH 67) runs in front of the college and buses on this road are quite frequent.  Kovilvenni railway station is located literally at the backyard (back entrance) of the college campus.

Anjalai Ammal-Mahalingam Engineering College was affiliated with Anna University Trichy. The college was approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).  AAMEC has the prestige of being one of the very few accredited institutions in Tamil Nadu. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE-New Delhi has accredited the  UG courses.  AAMEC is accredited ‘B’ grade by NAAC.  It has a faculty strength of over 100 with around 15 PhD holders.

Anjalai Ammal-Mahalingam Engineering College primarily offers of UG and PG courses in engineering and computer application like MCA, B.E. / B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech in the specialized fields of IT & Software and Engineering. Students can choose stream and specialization of their choice.   BTech admission requires students to complete 10+2 (PCM subjects) with 50% aggregate score. TNEA scorecard is also used to determine final selection of the students.  For MCA admission, students must have done graduation and should have studied mathematics as a compulsory subject at 10+2 or graduation level. Selection is done based on TANCET scorecard.The college has a decent training & Placement Cell, which is committed to provide assistance to find good job opportunities.

The Department of training and placement is headed by a placement officer. This department interacts with reputed organizations all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the placement of final year students. It makes efforts to send most of the students for in-plant training to enhance their technical ability and gain exposure to the practical world.

Industrial visits to reputed companies are arranged to know more details about industrial activities. It also enhances the soft-skill capability of the students through regular training programs. The department counsels the final year students for their higher studies and for getting projects from industries.

The cell also periodically conducts Aptitude test, Group discussions, Mock interviews and technical tests. Guidance is also offered for pursuing higher studies and research both in India and abroad
