Annai College of Arts & Science, accredited ‘B” Grade by NAAC in 2015, is a leading Co-educational, Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Research Institution. It is located in a sprawling area of 10 acres of land with greenish environment in Kovilacheri in Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu. It offers 20 UG courses, 11 PG course and 3 Ph.D. Programmes besides add – on courses. The student strength is 3500, of which girls constitute above 30 percent. The faculty strength is 140. The college is affiliated by Bharathidasan University.

It was the dream child of K.K.O. Mohamed Ibrahim Education & Charitable Trust which is in reality the vision of the four sons of the Founder, Mr. K.K.O. Mohamed Ibrahim. While M. Anwar Kabir, our Founder Chairman, dreamed the concept of a college, his elder brother. M.I. Abdul Gafoor, our Correspondent gave a concrete shape to Annai College. Another brother, M.I. Humayun Kabir, Secretary, continues to be our Brand Ambassador through his excellent contacts with the outside world. The youngest brother, M.I. Ahamed Yasin, takes care of the Engineering College. Training & Development

Training and Placement Cell was formed to guide our students to achieve their future endeavour.  A Committee was formed under the Cell, for its effective functioning they appoint Placement Co-ordinator for each department for not only maintaining the database of the students they also identify their competency and guide them to attain their career goals. The Placement Cell, train the students based on Industry expectation. The cell mainly focus on Career planning, Personality Development, Industry- Institute Interaction, In-plant training, Industrial visits, Campus placements, Entrepreneurship Development. The Placement Cell is consistently committed to achieve placement for our students.

Annai College of Arts and Science Scholarships and Funding

Scholarship 1

For Women & Minority Community- Women & Muslim Minority Community are offered free and fee concession depending on the economics status of the student.

Scholarship 2

Annai New Revolution- a student-student support program where the students themselves contribute Rs.1 to 10 daily for the payment of course fee for the economically needy students.

Scholarship 3

For Economically Weaker Sections- The K.K.O. Mohamed Ibrahim Education and Charitable Trust, which runs the College, offers Scholarships for nearly 200 students annually and supports the education of the economically challenged sectors of the society.

Others 4

For Sports Person- Students with remarkable achievements at school at zonal and district level competitions are given preference in admission for the courses they opt for and waiver in course fee is also given according to their economic status. Free accommodation and food, support materials for sport activities are provided free of cost in order to encourage them.

Campus Infrastructure

The mission of the institution is to offer higher education in the fields of Arts, Science and Management studies to the needy, poor and middle class students, make them fully employed and economically self- dependent. To accomplish this policy, the College Management is providing the best infrastructure for effective teaching and learning process in the campus.

Overall Infrastructure:

The college is spread over in an area of 10.33 acres of land. The college runs 20 UG courses, 9 PG courses, 3 Research Programmes. The Institution has well furnished with adequate number of class rooms, laboratories, well furnished library, seminar/conference Hall, auditoriums, parking area for the vehicles, canteen, adequate numbers of buses and separate hostel for both boys and girls.

Class Rooms and Tutorial System:

The college is providing more than 69 spacious classrooms with good air circulation, through which students achieve a conducive environment for the learning process. In order to monitor and analyse the academic performance of the students, the college has a very efficient tutorial system. Special attention is given to slow and active learners by the tutors and they monitor the academic & disciplinary issue pertaining to the students.

Library as Learning and Research sources:

The college library is a repository of rich learning resources for the students it contains adequate number of books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, Online databases, digital library and newspapers. Bar-Coding system has been implemented for effective management. Well furnished reading room is provided to the students which enables them voracious readers.

Seminar Hall and Auditorium:

Four Seminar/conference halls and two auditoriums (Open air Annai auditorium & Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam Movie Theater auditorium) are available in the college premises.

The Department of Science organizing Seminar/Conference in “CV Raman” hall. The Department of Computer organizing Seminar/Conference in “Shiva Ayyadurai” hall. The school of Commerce organizing seminar/conference in “chanakya” hall and the Department of Tamil & English organizing seminar/conference in “Thiruvalluvar” hall are well-furnished and air conditioned with a seating capacity of 150 members  respectively are available and the seminar hall are fully equipped with Audio and Visual Systems.

Audio – Visual Room:

The college has well furnished Audio-Visual room with audio, video systems, LCD, Wall Speakers and TV.

Optimum working condition of all properties/ equipment on the campus is ensured through Annual maintenance includes Generator, Air Conditioners, CCTV cameras and Water Purifiers. apart from contract workers, the college has trained in – house electricians and plumbers.

Amenites:

Adequate In – house staff is employed to meticulously maintain hygiene, cleanliness and infrastructure on the campus so as to provide a congenial learning environment. Classrooms, Staffrooms, Seminar halls and Laboratories, etc are cleaned and maintained regularly by Non – teaching staff assigned for each floor. Wash rooms and rest rooms are well maintained. Dustbins are placed in every floor. The Green Cover of the campus is well maintained by a full-time gardener.

The campus maintenance is monitored through surveillance Cameras.

Every department maintains a stock register for the available equipment.

Proper inspection is done and verification of stock takes place at the end of every year.

Sports

The institution provides facilities for the events of sports and games. The full time Physical Director is responsible for conducting all the sports events. Inter-Collegiate sports events are being conducted to encourage the students who are involved in sports and games. The institution organises Inter-School Sports even every year in the college premises to motivate the school students.

Indoor Games:

The institution provides facilities for the indoor games such as Carom & Chess. The students are well trained and make them participate in national or state level events.

Outdoor games:

The institution also provides facilities for the outdoor games such as Volley ball, Throw ball, kho-kho and Athletic events such as long jump, high jump, shot put and javelin throw. Cricket cement nets and Basket Ball court are available in the campus. The students are well trained and make them participate in national or state level events.

Library

The College library is housed in a magnificent building that is constructed almost in the centre of the campus. The Library is the nerve centre of knowledge and serves the students and staff members with needed information resources.  The Library acts as a vital partner in the collaborative learning activities with a wide range of academic resources such as books, journals, current periodicals, back volumes, e-resources, CDs/DVDs, Question bank and institutional library membership. The library is a fully automated, barcode based system and provides a user – friendly atmosphere. The library is installed with CCTV camera.

Hostel

The institution has separate homely hostels for boys and girls inside the campus with 191 well-furnished rooms to accommodate 267 boys and 178 girls with all facilities in room for comfortable living. In this 200 boys and 170 girls are occupied at current academic year. Facilities like indoor games and recreation like TV and reading rooms available to make students for hostel life pleasurable.

Transportation

Transport facilities are available from all required places to enable the students to reach the college in time. More than 37 buses were plying to various places. The buses are plying covering all the routes for the use of staff and students, Monthly fees is charged for availing transport facility by staff of student the emergency van is available in the college for students and faculty at the time of emergency.
