AVC College of Engineering (AVCCE)

AVC. College of Engineering is a Self-financing Private college for Engineering education located in the headquarters of the district of Mayiladuthurai within the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  AVCCE was started in the year 1996 committed to social welfare. The Founding father, Sri S. Ramalingam Pillai sowed the seeds of A.V. Charities in 1806 in memory of his beloved son Thiru Velayutham pillai.  A.V. Charities began its educational services by starting the A.V.C. (Autonomous) college in 1955, extended their horizon to A.V.C Polytechnic in 1983 and in 1996 opened the Engineering college.  A.V. Charities serves as a Beacon light in the field of education to the innumerable youth, from rural background.  They are second to none in enhancing the young minds to compete the ever changing global challenges.

AVCCE has a Campus size of 55.0 acres on the Mayiladuthurai - Akkur Rd, Mannampandal, Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu 609305.  Its  green campus is a higher-education community with optimum land use, environmental planning and resource management i.e., improving energy efficiency, conserving resources, enhancing environmental quality including habitat preservation, healthy living environment, use of renewable energy and management of wastes, water recycling etc..  AVCCE have more than 30 acres of land with large number of good aged trees and well maintained garden which makes the campus ever green and pollution free.

AVC College of Engineering, a pioneer institution, has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and also in possession of ISO 9001:2015 certificate. The college  moved ahead with National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the Engineering courses. The private institute has been accredited with Grade A by NAAC. It has also acquired the DNV certification. AVC College of Engineering is currently affiliated with Anna University of Technology in Chennai.

AVC College of Engineering is a prestigious Institute which offers 19 Degree courses in Full Time mode. Students have the option to choose courses like B.E. / B.Tech, MCA, MBA/PGDM, M.E./M.Tech with stream of Engineering, IT & Software and Business & Management Studies. AVCCE gives opportunity to gain professional level expertize through its trained and experienced faculty in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics Engineering. Courses offered by institute are well recognized and acknowlegded by approving body like AICTE. Overall, courses are available for an intake of 531 from the most aspiring students for higher learning.   Accepted entrance exams are TANCET, TNEA and GATE.

AVCCE has a well supported campus with facilities like Auditorium, Boys Hostel, Cafeteria, Girls Hostel, Gym, Hospital / Medical Facilities, Hostel, Labs, Library, Shuttle Service, Sports Complex, Wi-Fi Campus, Others - Hockey, Seminar Hall, Bank and ATM Facility. The library includes 42000 number of books and 120 National & International journals. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility is available to save the access time for the users. Membership with IEEE, IEI, ASME, ACM, ISTE, CSI & DELNET is also been acquired.


AVC College of Engineering is committed to becoming a model campus with regard to environmental conservation. The buildings within the campus are based on green building concepts to the extent possible.  The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions, energy use, and water use, while creating an atmosphere where students can be healthy and learn. Rainwater harvesting, Solar Photovoltaic Technology (SPV) and Bio gas plant are in place to make sure the life  in and around the college campus is environment friendly. 

The Mission of AVC College of Engineering is to make the institution a Centre of Academic Excellence. The R&D facilities have been opened up to make the students as reservoir of knowledge, aptitude to advance and to face the global challenges.

The Admission Procedure remains same for all UG courses offered by AVC College of Engineering. Selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100 in the qualifying examination)

PLACEMENTS

Founded on the “Win – Win” principle, placement division of AVCCE is the vehicle on which valued relationships and collaboration between the college and corporate community are formed thereby promoting partnerships between business and education.

The Training and Placement cell is headed by the Placement officer and assisted by the placement coordinators from the departments. The placement officer is regularly kept in touch with the corporate to identify their needs and expectations. He is also acting as like a liaison officer between the companies and institute. Placement Cell at AVCCE is providing ample opportunities for the young minds to sharpen their intellect and to mould soft sills through regular training programmes, interaction with leaders from industry and academia and industry interface through industrial visits and projects.

Library

Our vision is to kindle the knowledge and support the education and research programs of the institution by providing physical and intellectual access to the information. It is one of those libraries which is well equipped with more number of Books, National and International Journals. For effective Teaching learning process the library is maintaining a special section which is incorporated with Educational CD’s and DVD’s in fields of Engineering, Management and Science and Humanities. The Library takes more efforts in adding around 42000 number of books and 120 National & International journals every year to quench the thirst of our staff & students. Our Library functions from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all working days. Open access system is adopted to avail the maximum utilization of the Library resources. To benefit the students, Library Hour is included in the Regular Time Table, which help them in utilizing the library more effectively. Library transactions are maintained by Integrated Library Management Software package with Bar-coding provisions. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility is available to save the access time of the users.

Canteen

A Cafeteria is run by the college, for the convenience of the students and the staff of the college with a view to provide quality food and snacks at lowest cost.

Seminar Hall 

A multi-purpose hall refers to a building which serves to accommodate different types of events or activities.such as seminars,conferences and meetings, Convocation, department functions and etc. . Depending on the location, the operation of a multi-purpose hall may be associated with several environmental nuisances which need to be mitigated to avoid inconveniences to the surrounding neighbourhood Adoption of sustainable building designs (provision of sunshades/ awnings to prevent heating of the buildings, provision of double glazed openings to promote insulation for buildings,esp. with metal roof ) Rain water harvesting for washing of premises.

Our Transport department well engaged with eleven buses for the benefit of staff and students. Further Tamilnadu government state Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam, operates a special bus exclusively for students both in the morning and evening. A separate college bus is operating for the benefit of students and staff coming from Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Thiruvarur, Porayar, Thiruvengadu and various surrounding areas.
