Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), situated in Davangere, is a Private Un-Aided college associated with the Conglomerate (BEA) - Bapuji Educational Association (1958) which is one of the oldest and most prestigious Educational Associations in Karnataka. Established in 1979, BIET is one of the top ten self-financing Engineering Institutions in the State, providing excellent quality education to bring out high professional Engineers and Technocrats.

The BIET campus is spread over a sprawling 63 acres of land in a lush green environment dotted with modern buildings having the state-of-the-art architecture. Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology offers 21 courses across 3 streams namely Engineering, Management and IT.  The Courses offered include BE (in 13 disciplines), MTech (Structural Engg), MBA, MCA and PhD programs.  The admissions to this Institute are purely based on Merit based on the KCET scores.

Admission Procedure

Admission is open to all candidates who have passed B.E./B. Tech examinations (in relevant field) of VTU or any other University recognized by this University or any other examinations recognized by this University as equivalent with not less than 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST ) of the marks in the aggregate in the examinations of the semester considered for the declaration of the class.

Admission Criteria

UG Admission

BIET Davangere offers BE programs in various specializations for aspiring engineers. The popular courses offered at the institute are BE in CSE, ECE, Mechanical Engineering, and IT. The duration of UG courses is 4 years, which is conducted in a regular, offline mode. Candidates must fulfil certain eligibility criteria and appear in the CET or COMEDK UGET for admission.

PG Admission

BIET Davangere offers a variety of M.Tech, MBA, and MCA programs. At the PG level, the candidate must have a relevant bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Selection is based on GATE or Karnataka PGCET scores for M.Tech and Karnataka PGCET or KMAT for MBA and MCA, respectively, followed by counseling.

Admission Process 

The admission process at BIET Davangere for 2025 is an entrance-based admission requiring a valid entrance score in KCET or COMEDK UGET for BE, or GATE/Karnataka PGCET for M.Tech, and Karnataka PGCET/KMAT for MBA/MCA. Candidates must satisfy the criteria of eligibility and appear for the counselling process, which is conducted by either the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) or COMEDK. The application processes are usually carried out online, either through the official BIET website or the respective portals of the said exams.

2. Dr S Manjappa HOD of Chemistry Department of our Institute has deposited the amount of Rs 200000.00 The scholarship will be given to the poor students on the basis of merit only out of the Interest every year.

Placement

Training and Placement Cell is a backbone of any institute which is committed to develop dynamism, strong human values technocratic and good leadership qualities as per the need of rapidly changing technology working with a strategy oriented planning. The Placement Cell plays a crucial role in locating job opportunities for Under Graduates and Post Graduates passing out from the college by keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments.

The Placement Cell operates round the year to facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. The number of students placed through the campus interviews is continuously rising. On invitation, many reputed industries visit the institute to conduct interviews.

This cell apart from the normal placement activities have a frequent personal interaction with the students and understand and realize their problems better and try to solve effectively and boost their confidence in every aspect.

The Placement Cell organizes career guidance programs for all the students starting from first year. The cell arranges training programs like Mock Interviews, Group Discussions, Communication Skills Workshop etc and it also organizes Public Sector Exam Training for students who are interested to join Government Sectors. It also invites HR Managers from different industries to conduct training programmes for final year students.

In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the cell arranges expert lectures of Corporate Managers in both Technical and HRD streams for the students and faculty of the Institute. There are various Workshops and Seminars organized for the benefit of students regarding the latest trend and technology in the industry.

TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES has accredited our college in the year 1998, from which they are visiting our college every year for conducting Placement Training programmes and Campus Interviews.

The Cell is well equipped with ample infrastructure in Terms of Testing halls, Seminar hall for Pre Placement Talk & Presentations, Conference room, Board Room etc. and Computer labs for online tests also the cell has video conference facility available for the students.

Facilities Offered @ Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davanagere

Most of the students in the rural areas are devoid of good facilities for arranging and taking part in different cultural events, which are must to build overall personality of the young minds. Keeping this in view, S. S. Mallikarjun Cultural centre has been established in the campus of BIET. The auditorium has been built in Contemporary Architectural style of the 21st century adopting mixture of several different styles, from postmodernism and high-tech architecture to highly conceptual and expressive forms and designs, resembling sculpture on an enormous scale. Architectural designs are supplied and work supervised by M/s Shankar Associates, Coimbatore. Total built-up area is around 5500 square meters and the total expense made for completion of the work is around 28 crores. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 700 provided with two VIP balconies. Wide stage with remote controlled screens and a made to order AHA-ELF 72D Digital Podium provides complete options and control to the presenter/performer. A high-tech projecting system is supplied by Christie, Canada. Audio system is supplied by US BOSCH which provides all possible types of graphic equalizers for different tunes and voices in vocal pedagogy in the audible range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

The Library & Information Centre is housed in the Administrative Block & having three floors including ground floor with a two mezzanine floors, measuring an area of 2661 sq.m. There are 9 staff members including qualified Librarian working in the library, having 600 seating capacity. To cater to the needs of the staff/ students, to have easy and speedy access to the library collection, the house keeping operations of library have been automated using EasyLib software package. It has adopted open access system and maintains Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC) to provide easy access to the stacks. The library subscribes to 139 print journals and subscribing e-journals through VTU-Consortium. It has also has a collection of nearly 4485 back volumes of periodicals.

Drinking water is basic human requirement for survival and supply of clean drinking water is a challenge in the present days due to depletion of fresh water sources and human activities. About 3500 students are studying in BIET and supplying clean drinking water is very much essential. In this regard, management of BIET has decided to provide drinking water to students and staff &installed two Reverse Osmosis units each with a capacity of 1000 LPH. One unit is installed near alumni guest house and the other unit near library block. The raw water is made to pass through sand filter which filters suspended solids. Then the water is passed through carbon filter which removes colour, odour and chlorides. Then the water flows to R.O. membranes which removes the dissolved solids present in water. Finally the treated water with low TDS and conductivity is collected in 1000 litre capacity tanks. The reject water from the membranes with high dissolved salt content goes to drain. Treated water from the 1000 litre storage tank is supplied to various departments through 20 litre water cans. The units are beautiful pilot scale models & suitable learning tools for engineering students.

Hostel

Boys

The Hostel is founded in 1984 to accommodate the boys, who come from different parts of the world. The hostel now has three blocks accommodating about 510 boarders. The rooms are well furnished and the surroundings of hostel is very green and pleasant, which encourages the students to study during late nights. The students who stayed in the hostel have secured 18 university ranks right from the inception of the hostel. The hostel is having two dinning halls of North & South Indian to cater the needs of the boarders for their taste.

Hostel is known for its discipline and well managed by dedicated faculty & staff members The Hostel area is spacious as much as 4.5 acres., built up area it self being 12,877.09 Sq. feet

Girls

The Hostel was started in 2008 to accommodate BIET girl students, who come from different parts of the world. The hostel now has one block with 4 Floors, accommodating about 320 boarders. The rooms are well furnished and the surroundings of hostel is very green and pleasant, which encourages the students to study. The hostel is having two dining halls to cater to the needs of the boarders for their varied taste. Hostel is known for its discipline and well managed by dedicated faculty & staff members. The hostel is spacious with a built up area of 5029 Sq. Mts. with 104 Rooms accommodating 320 students.

The Chairman of “AMRUTHA”, Dr.S.S.D.J Ladies Hostel is Dr Prabha Mallikarjun, Member ,BEA,Dvg. The warden of the hostel is Dr S M Chandushaker. Dr Vinutha H P and Prof Nirmala G are working as deputy-wardens of the hostel. The hostel is well managed by a team of experienced office staff.

North Indian & south Indian dishes are prepared in the hostel mess. The hostel mess is managed by the hostel administration itself. Ragging is totally prohibited in the hostel. As an entertainment and refreshment hostel has indoor shuttle court, and an indoor sports hall which is used for table tennis, chess, carom board and other indoor games. Common TV hall is facilitated to watch some important program in the limited hours.

Stationery shop facility is provided in the hostel premises. A walking track is also laid all around the hostel. All the national festivals are celebrated in the hostel. The hostel is surrounded by a landscaped garden.

Transport

Transportation facilities are available for students commuting from nearby areas. College buses connect Davanagere city and surrounding regions, ensuring safe and convenient travel.
