Medical College Baroda is an academic institute of repute under the aegis of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat and located in the city of Vadodara (formerly known as Baroda), one of the major cities of Gujarat state in Western India. It traces its history to the pre-independent era. The foundation stone of the college was laid in the year 1946 by the former ruler of Baroda Sir Pratapsingh Gaekwad and the college started functioning from June 1949 with a batch of 40 students. Attached to the college is the 1500 bedded academic teaching hospital , Sir Sayajirao General Hospital, a tertiary care centre which traces its origin to the Countess of Dufferin hospital started in 1865. The College and Hospital are located in a 36 acre campus located in Central Baroda, 1km from the Vadodara Railway & Bus Stations and 3km from the Vadodara airport. It functions as the Faculty of Medicine of the prestigious Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, which is responsible for awarding the degrees to the students.
Since its inception the college has progressed a long way in providing quality medical education recognized by the Medical Council of India, to students of Gujarat and those from other states getting admission on an all India quota both in the undergraduate(M.B.B.S) and post graduate medical courses(M.D/M.S). It also provides comprehensive facilities for research and patient care. The Pre and Para clinical departments of this college support all the clinical departments in providing treatment for practically all types of medical conditions. The Medical College campus also houses the Government Physiotherapy College and the Government Nursing College which train students for B.Sc (Physiotherapy) and B.Sc (Nursing courses) respectively. Eminent alumni from this college are successfully practicing all over India and abroad.

Admission Eligibility and Procedure
Eligibility:
The candidate must be of 17 years or above as on 31st December of the enrolment year. The candidate must be a graduate of a Higher Secondary School with 10+2 degree in science stream with Biology (or bio-technology) along with Physics and Chemistry as their subject. Minimum 50% marks are eligible (40% in case of SC/ST and 45% for OBC Category).
Admission Procedure:
It is a compulsion for a medical aspirant to appear in National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after graduating 12th grade. The selections in all the government, central, private and deemed colleges are based on the NEET scores. The seats for all medical Institutions/Colleges/universities are offered via counselling based on the fulfilment of eligibility Score/Rank, preferences of colleges and seats available. There will be multiple rounds of counselling viz. round-1, Round-2, Mop Up round and Stray Rounds. Conduct of every subsequent round depends on the availability of seats. If vacant seats remain at the end of one round, the next round will be conducted.

Girls Hostel
The College has a fully secured Girls hostel adjacent to the college and hospital building is the most outstanding feature of this institute. With a total built-up area of 28000 sq. ft. has 48 rooms providing residential facilities to 196 girl students of this institute. Baroda Homeopathic Medical College has its own 49 bedded full-fledged hospital (covering 65000 sq. ft. area) with all modern facilities for routine & emergency medical care. This well-equipped teaching hospital serves as a boon to the surrounding rural locality. Various consultants both from Homoeopathy and Modern Medicine make efforts to provide primary & secondary medical aid to needful patients. The Paradise Foundation Trust runs this hospital purely on a charitable basis to allow its benefits to be extended to the very low-income generating population. The hospital has a full-fledged Homoeopathic unit where Clinical Teaching & Practical Training in Homeopathy is given to clinical students by prominent consultants.

The College library area of 3012 sq. ft. is divided into various different sections e.g. Journal Section, Circulation Section, Stack Area, Reference Section, Acquisition Section, and Reading Hall for staff, U.G. and P.G. Students.
