Basaveshwara Engineering College (Autonomous), also known as BEC, is a private, co-educational Engineering College which was started in the year 1963, came into Government grant in-aid code from 1968 and is undergoing unwavering growth ever since in a phased manner.  It is a premier Technical Institute which caters to the needs of rural masses in Northern Karnataka. The core values of the Institution lay emphasis on Teaching-learning, Research and Administrative processes.

BEC campus which is 5 km from Bagalkot city on Raichur-Belgaum Road is located in a beautifully elevated stretch of land over 91 acres on the outskirts of the city, and is adjoining the New Bagalkote town. 

Basaveshwara Engineering College is a UGC approved institute which is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, and has been approved by AICTE. The college is accredited to NBA, NAAC, and QS I-Gauge.  It secured NIRF ranking 3 times since 2016,

BEC, Bagalkote offers various UG, PG and Doctoral programs which includes BE in 9 disciplines, MTech program in 8 disciplines, MBA, MCA and PhD/Msc (Engineering) Degree programs.  The eligibility for admission to the college is as follows:

BE - Students have to take any one of the Entrance Examination (CET, COMED-K, JEE or the entrance exam conducted by college)

MTech - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ GATE

MBA - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ KMA

MCA - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ KMAT

PhD/MSc - Working professionals/faculty and others with a Postgraduate qualification in the related discipline are eligible to apply for a Ph.D. The required qualification for M.Sc. (Engg.) programs is a 4-year Engineering Degree program in the related discipline.

The college was granted Autonomous Status by VTU and UGC in the year 2007.  Since then it has introduced academic reforms by restructuring the curriculum keeping in mind the technological developments and needs of the industry.  The college received grants of over Rs. 38.52 crores under TEQIP.

BEC Bagalkot BTech admissions are based on COMEDK UGET Score. COMEDK UGET Choice filling is ongoing now. The last date to register is August 25. Candidates can submit the allotment, decision making and pay the fees from August 26 to August 30. Selected candidates can report to allocated colleges till August 31, 2023.

Basaveshwar Engineering College (BEC) is an autonomous institute affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The College is located in Bagalkot, Karnataka. Established in 1963, college offers B.E. degree of at UG level and M.Tech, MBA, and MCA degree of two years duration at PG level. Additionally, the college also offers Ph.D. course in seven disciplines.

• For admission to B.E. degree course candidate should have passed 10+2/HSC in PCM with 45% marks.
• For M.Tech admission candidate should have passed BE/B.Tech in relevant field. For MBA and MCA courses candidates should have done graduation in any discipline.
• Selection to B.E. course is done on the basis of merit list by considering marks in qualifying exam and KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test).
•  M.Tech, MCA, and MBA admissions are done on the basis of PGCET conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
