About

Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust was founded with the vision of transforming higher education in Tamil Nadu. In 1984, under the leadership of Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan, the Trust established the Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), making history as the first self-financing engineering college in the state. This groundbreaking step paved the way for the Trust’s expansion into medical and allied health sciences education.

Continuing its pursuit of academic excellence, the Trust launched Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital in 1989. The institution soon earned national recognition and, in July 2002, was elevated to the status of a Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. This milestone marked the birth of the Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER), which today serves as the umbrella body for a distinguished group of institutions.

Admission Procedure

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research is a distance learning institute which is approved by AICTE. BIHER is the first private university in India to get the coveted international accreditation from ABET, USA in 2018. The institute offers BBA, B.Com and BA courses at the undergraduate level and offers M.Com program at the postgraduate level. Admission to the courses offered will be done based on the candidate’s performance in the previous qualifying examination. Eligibility

B.Sc (Agriculture) - Eligibility: 10+2 with PCM/PCB (Min. 50%)
B.Sc - Eligibility: 10+2 in relevant science stream
B.Com - Eligibility: 10+2 in Commerce stream (Min. 50%)
BCA - Eligibility: 10+2 from any stream with minimum 50% marks
BBA - Eligibility: 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% marks
B.Arch -Eligibility: 10+2 with 50% in PCM + NATA qualified
M.Sc - Eligibility: Graduation in relevant field with minimum 55%

B.Tech Admission 2025

BIHER admission to B.Tech is based on the Bharath Engineering Entrance Examination (BEEE). Candidates must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% marks in PCM. For Bioengineering-related branches, students must have 50% marks in PCB/PCM. Lateral entry is also available for diploma or B.Sc degree holders.

UG & PG Programs Admission 2025

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) offers admission to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs including B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BA, BCA, B.Arch, M.Sc, MA, M.Com, and more. Admission to most of these programs is merit-based, evaluated on the marks secured in the last qualifying examination. However, some courses like B.Arch and B.Sc Agriculture require entrance tests such as NATA and BEEE respectively.

MBA Admission 2025

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research offers admission to its MBA program. Selection to the MBA program is based on the candidate’s score in entrance exams like TANCET or merit in the qualifying graduation examination.

Placement

Scholarship

Merit Scholarship Program :

At Bharath Institute of Higher Eduaction and Research (Deemed to be University), we believe in recognizing and rewarding exceptional academic achievements. To encourage and support outstanding students, we offer a Merit Scholarship Program. This program aims to recognize students who demonstrate remarkable academic performance and potential in their respective fields of study. The merit scholarships are available for various courses, including Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and other B.Tech courses.

Merit Scholarship Categories:

CSE Merit Scholarships:

• CSE: Students who achieve 95% and above in PCM are eligible for a merit scholarship (limited to 100 seats).
  
• CSE with AI, CSE with AIML, CSE with Cybersecurity, CSE with Data Science, CSE with IoT (Blockchain Technology), and CSE with AIML (IOA UK): Students who achieve 95% and above in PCM are eligible for a merit scholarship.
  
• CSE (In Association with IBM): Students who achieve 95% and above in PCM are eligible for a merit scholarship. This program offers specializations in Data Science and Full Stack Development in collaboration with Upgrad Campus.
  

Phase-II Merit Scholarships (501 to 750 seats):

• CSE: Students who achieve 90% and above in PCM are eligible for a merit scholarship.

Facilities offered  @ Bharat University, Chennai

The BIHER Library was established in the year 1984 with three main branches of Engineering such as Civil, Mechanical and Computer Science Engineering. Gradually it has grown up in all dimensions in terms of collections and services. The library caters to the needs of the faculty, Students and Research Scholars. Books related to these disciplines were added to this library initially. Bharath University Library has a seating capacity of Six Hundred.The following special facilities are available on campus to promote students interest in sports and cultural events/activities.

• Providing Special sponsor for the students who are participating in state level and national level tournaments.
  
• Providing 50% sponsorship for the students who are participating in district level tournaments.
  
• Special coaching for cricket, volley ball, basket ball.
  
• Free yoga training has been given for the sports students.

Primary health care center takes care of the health of the students. All students in hostels are checked regularly on monthly basis by the doctors of the university hospital. The university hospital has full-fledged hospital facilities with ICU and emergency care for 24 hours. An ambulance is always standby for any medical emergency. All medicines and investigation are provided free of charge to all students and faculty.Each campus has a post office STD, ISD pay phones, copier facility, stationery store, souvenir shop etc. The university has the tie-ups with beauty parlor, travel agency etc.

Transport

The Institution provides transport facility from almost all parts of the city. One need not worry about commuting to the varsity.

Bus Routes for 2025 - 2026 :

• The fees will be accepted subject to the availability of Seats.
  
• Bus fees once paid will not be refunded / adjusted under any Circumstances.
  
• The students are also advised to submit 2 stamp size photographs for issue of ID Cards.
