Bharathiyar Institute of Engineering for Women is a well-known self-financing engineering college was founded in 2008 by Sri Sakthi Educational Trust. It is maintained by the fascinating Chairman Mr. S. Elayappan, Secretary Dr. A. K. Ramasamy, Treasurer S.R.T. Selvamani, and other board members of Sri Sakthi Educational Trust. The Governing Body of the College has been constituted to guide and advise the Trust in running the college efficiently and to help the management in the developmental activities of the college and in its future planning. This body consists of Educationalists, Indistrialists and Administrators.The mission of the Institute is to promote the education of rural female students in the fields of science and technology, thereby enhancing their skills in cutting-edge technology. The Institute focuses on providing a student-friendly and tranquil environment.

Bharathiyar Institute of Engineering for Women is located in a relatively large green campus on NH-79, Salem, Deviyakurchi, Thalaivasal Attur, Salem, Tamil Nadu.BIET is affiliated with Anna University and is an ISO 9001:2015 and 21001:2018 certified Institution. It has been approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

The courses offered at BIET is varied with UG (B.E/B.Tech) and PG (M.E) programs in the fields of Engineering and Technology. The college offers Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Also, courses for Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering and Communication Systems are offered. The annual intake is 60 seats per discipline for UG programs, and 18 per Discipline for PG programs. Admissions to these programs are based on marks obtained in 12 class as well as TNEA counselling.

The college has sufficient number of drawing halls with drawing tables for the access of students. The institution is also equipped with a huge, fully air-conditioned Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 300 people in each department, as well as a Conference Hall having a seating capacity of 500 people to conduct various events.The college has ICT facility including 228 Computer, 5 Laptops, Wireless Microphones, Video, Project Sound System with Internet Facilities to conduct Workshops, Association Activities, Conference, Guest Lecture & Online Classes.

The entire institution is connected with local area networks of 100 Mbps. The institution has very high-speed advanced server such as HP ProLiant ML150 server, intel Xeon inside, ERP Software, Linux server and web server. Bharathiyar Institute of Engineering for Women also has a Gymnastics, Yoga and an Indoor Game Centre. This centre is designed for both yoga & meditation for improving physical & mental health of students & faculty. Meditation class conducted every day morning. The yoga day is organized in every year.The faculty attendance is monitored by using biometric thump impression regularly. The 16 class rooms are enabled with ICT facility.

Admission Procedure

Admission to Bharathiyar Institute of Engineering for Women (BIEW), Salem, for undergraduate programs is conducted through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. Eligible candidates who have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects must apply online via the TNEA portal, submit the required documents, and participate in the counseling process based on their academic performance. For postgraduate programs like M.E., candidates are required to appear for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET), after which they must submit their application through the official TANCET portal, upload necessary documents, and may undergo further selection procedures such as interviews.

Eligibility

• Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects
• Candidates with vocational subjects prescribed under Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) eligibility criteria are also eligible.

M.E - 2 Year Course

Admission Process

• Appear for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).

Undergraduate Programs:

Approximately 40% of undergraduate students receive financial aid.
Out of 751 UG students, 304 have been awarded scholarships or fee reimbursements.

Postgraduate Programs:

A significant 77% of postgraduate students benefit from financial assistance.
Specifically, 30 out of 39 PG students have received scholarships.

Each room is thoughtfully furnished, ensuring comfort and good ventilation, while every floor is equipped with a water purifier to meet the residents’ needs.To enhance the quality of life for its residents, the hostel provides a range of amenities. These include a reverse osmosis (R.O.) system for clean drinking water, hot water facilities during the winter months, and a backup generator to guarantee a continuous power supply. A dedicated laundry area with ample clotheslines is also available for the convenience of the residents.

Transport

• The college operates over 30 buses that cover various destinations across the districts of Salem, Cuddalore, and Villupuram, ensuring accessibility from both rural and urban areas.
• The transport facility is optional for students, allowing flexibility based on individual needs.
• The transportation fees range from ₹1,800 to ₹16,000 per student per year, depending on the distance and route.
