B.M.S. Institute of Technology and Management (Autonomous) is a private engineering college which was started in the year 2002 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah Institute of Technology (BMSIT) and is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust.  It was founded by B S Narayana, son of educationist Shri B M Sreenivasaiah. It is the sister institution of B M S College of Engineering, a well established government aided engineering college in India.  The Institute was recognized as a Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2005.  It was awarded Autonomous status in 2020.  Though a private college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.  BMS Institute of Technology & Management provides personalized and interdisciplinary educational experiences to highly qualified students

 
BMSIT&M is located in the heart of Bangalore, the Garden City of India, in a sprawling 25 acre campus on Dodballapura Main Road, Avalahalli, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka, diagonally opposite to the Halli Saviruchi.

Undergraduate Programmes
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates shall have passed the 2nd year Pre University or 12th standard or equivalent examination held preceding the entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects - Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology or Electronics. The Candidate should have secured not less that 45% of aggregate marks in optional subjects with English as one of the languages for admissions to engineering.

For Engineering Admission through Management Quota in BMSIT&M, the minimum percentage of marks expected is 60% as per the current norms of the management.

The candidates satisfying the above criterion can apply through
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test), Diploma CET (KEA) | AICTE J&K.
COMEDK (Consortium Of Medical Engineering and Dental colleges of Karnataka).
Management Quota: The admission under management quota is processed in the office of the BMS Educational Trust. The Council of Trustees decide the tuition fee for various courses under management quota and seats are allotted by the Chief of the Admission Committee. The BMS Educational Trust advertises regarding the admission and the application forms are issued to the aspirants in the month of June / July of every year.

Eligibility Criteria - Master of Technology
The Candidates should have passed bachelor's degree with not less than 50% as an aggregate in B.E/B.Tech. It is further provided that the candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the first proviso in the Pre University course with 50% of marks in that subject, shall be eligible.

Eligibility Criteria - Master of Computer Applications
Candidates who have passed Bachelor Degree examination with not less than 50% of the marks in all the years of the degree examination can seek admission to Master of Computer Applications. In case of Scheduled castes/ Scheduled Tribes the marks shall not be less than 45%. The candidates with not less than 50% of marks with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer science or Computer Programming or Computer Applications or Business Statistics as optional or electives. However in case of Scheduled castes/ Scheduled Tribes the marks shall not be less than 45%.

The students who has studied and passed one of the specified subject in the pre-University course with 50% of the marks in that subject shall also considered for admission. However in case of Scheduled castes/ Scheduled Tribes the marks shall not be less than 45% for admission.

There shall be an entrance examination for MCA Course. A Candidate seeking admission in engineering colleges bangalore affiliated to VTU shall have to take this examination. The admission committee shall hold the concerned examination and shall also conduct the interview of the candidates. For Govt. Seats in colleges and for VTU course, PGCET will conduct the entrance exam.

Research Programmes
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
The eligibility requirement for candidates to get admitted to the Ph.D. Programme shall include the following provision of categories of candidates.

Full-Time: Candidates who shall pursue Ph.D. research on full time basis,
Part-Time: In-service candidates having a minimum professional experience of one year after his/her UG Degree from among faculty members working in any Engineering College / Polytechnic / University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) or research staff of public / private organizations, are eligible to pursue Ph.D. on a part time basis.
Full-Time/Part Time (Special): NRI/FN/PIO candidates under these groups shall be eligible for either Full Time or Part Time. However, the candidates shall have passed the UG / PG programmes with medium of instruction in English or qualified in TOFEL/ELTS, or equivalent. The candidates shall be able to communicate and submit the thesis in English language only.
Dual Degree: Students studying M.Sc.(Engg.) by Research /M.Tech., may be allowed to upgrade to Ph.D. as applicable.
Distance mode: Students who have obtained PG degree in Engineering/Science disciplines through distance mode are not eligible. However, candidates with MBA & MCA degrees obtained through distance mode may be allowed as per UGC/AICTE norms in this regards. Study leave / Employment / Clearances

The network support service team is responsible for Supporting, Maintaining, Monitoring and Upgrading both wired and Wi-Fi service and server infrastructure at Campus and hostels.

Internet user Authentication for WiFi: Extreme NAC is centralized authentication system server installed at data centre through which users are created and given to registered users through google form keeping the USN as unique key for students and employee ID as key for staff.

Bandwidth per User: Unlimited data per user and bandwidth of 60-100Mbps upper bandwidth is reserved per user. It is shared as the user increases in the network.

Bandwidth back haul and distribution: Band width from two ISPs TATA Tele services & SIFY technologies (350+350=700) Mbps of 1:1 Internet bandwidth ISP links are terminated at Data centre and being distributed to entire campus through optical fibre cable.

O&M: Three dedicated technical staff to attend and address real time issues, operations and maintenance.

A third party vendor is also on call for any new or existing error resolution.

About BICEP - Incubation Centre

BMSIT&M established BICEP - BMS Innovation Centre and Entrepreneurship Park - Incubation centre to encourage students and faculties to catalyze development of innovation-driven enterprises. The Centre has been recognized and approved as the Host Institute to setup Business Incubator (BI) by Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. The Incubation centre, activity engaged to enable its students get first-hand experience in entrepreneurship, promote innovation at the institute and provide comprehensive and integrated range of support including space, mentoring, training programs, networking and an array of other benefits.

BICEP is housed in the campus itself. It has the Best facilities and resources available to incubatee such as laboratories, development and testing centers, computing resources, library and above all highly experienced and knowledgeable human resource. About Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as an important driver of economic growth of a country. Even Govt. of India has recognized the importance of entrepreneurship and has introduced programs like "Make in India" & "Start-up India".

The aim of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at BMSIT & M, is to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial qualities in the budding professionals who are interested in starting their own ventures. The College provides infrastructure and technical support to the students having innovative ideas to transform into new products and services for the betterment of the society. The EDC also assists all the aspirants with mentoring, planning and execution of their start up idea into a real business. The EDC has maintained a pool of Sponsors like banks, national entrepreneurship training agencies and suppliers, who are willing to aid budding entrepreneurs.

Hence an Entrepreneurship Development Cell was constituted in the college with a dedicated team of actively working faculty who has an industry exposure along with some student representatives. Aspiring engineer entrepreneurs are groomed with the necessary inputs on how to be a successful entrepreneur through workshops and seminars by eminent people from the industry. At EDC, we encourage the students to consider self-employment as a career option, providing necessary training in Entrepreneurship skills through standardized courses. The cell also organizes different activities and events from time to time to train and motivate the students on entrepreneurship.

About HEFC
BMSIT&M has a great track-record of students going on for higher education – Masters and Ph.D. - in various universities abroad. In the past few years, students have gone to the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland and so on. Sport is a very competitive field; without proper sports facilities we cannot expect high level performance. Sports performance is mainly based on scientific way of coaching & training. Training may require various means & methods.

It is a dream of a trainer and a trainee to have all kind of standard sports facilities in one campus many institutions are producing high quality sports facilities in India. Youths will attract with quality sports facilities and such playgrounds are like ornaments to the campus.

The main drawback of our students for not participating in sports activities are -

The institution is far from the city; nearby we don’t have proper sports facilities like Swimming pool, Tennis court, Shuttle badminton courts, Athletic track etc... So it is difficult to get into some good sports clubs for regular practice, if someone wants to join, it will take lot of time every day to travel for that purpose. Such kind of things will affect on studies

If we have good sports facilities in our campus, it will help our students to continue their sports carrier along with academic progress for an overall personality development. They can save their time in travelling and getting strain unnecessarily and divert that time in to sports and studies. Here we can remember the proverb “Sound Mind in a Sound Body”

About the Library
We at BMSIT&M inculcate a habit of ongoing self education in our students hence preparing them to soar high up in their respective fields. Our opulent yet illustrious library, spread across a carpet area of 1418 sqmts., is not only impressively spacious but also has a comprehensive collection of books in engineering and allied subjects gratifying to the needs of faculties, research scholars, staff and students.


Transport

The transport department started its operation in the year 2002 with two buses (Route 1 and 2) to commute students and staff from and to the institute.
Subsequently, another three buses were purchased. At present, we are owning 5 buses having average seating capacity of 52. Also, with the increase the institute intake over years and to meet the demand, we are hiring 9 BMTC chartered contract services to provide transportation service to students and staff across the various parts of Bangalore city. Totally we are having 14 buses (05 college owned buses and 09 BMTC hired contract services) operating at present.
