Bunts Sangha’s S.M.Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies were established in 2008 by Bunts Sangha, Mumbai. The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

Bunts Sangha, Mumbai was established in 1927 as a Charitable Trust and devoted itself to the cause of education, health care and social reforms of downtrodden and underprivileged class of people. The Sangha has been in the service of people for almost nine decades. Initially, the Sangha established two night schools mainly to cater the needs of working students during the day time. During the last decade, more emphasis was given to the education for the masses.

ADIMISSION PROCESS:

Bunts Sangha's S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies is an affiliated college of the University of Mumbai. It was established in 2008 by the Mumbai-based Bunts Sangha Charitable Trust.

SM Shetty College offers a number of UG and PG courses in the disciplines of Science, Commerce, Management and Media Studies. It currently offers B.Com, BAF, BBI, BMS, BMM and B.Sc. in IT programs at the UG level. At the PG level, the institute offers M.Com and M.Sc. in IT.

Key Points:

• Candidates must register with the University of Maharashtra before applying at the institute level.
• Candidates appearing/ appeared in the final year exam of the qualifying program are also eligible to apply.
• 50% of the total seats for each program are reserved for students whose mother tongue is Tulu.
• For UG courses, candidates must have passed 10+2 with 45% marks from a recognized board to be eligible for admission.
• For M.Com and M.Sc, candidates must have a B.Com and B.Sc degree respectively with 45% marks.
• Admission to UG and PG courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.

SM Shetty College Application Process

The application process for admission to degree courses offered by the college is done as per University of Mumbai guidelines. Prospective candidates can register online through the University of Mumbai website. The subsequent step is to apply at the college level. The application process in details is as follows:

• Candidates must visit the college campus and purchase the application form from the admission office by paying the application fee in cash.
• All relevant columns in the application form must be filled correctly with accurate details. The applicant must also ensure that the completed application form is duly signed and photograph attached, before submission.
• At the time of registration with the University of Mumbai, the candidates will receive a Submission Copy and a Student Copy of the registration form.
• The submission copy has to be attached to the application form of the institute, and the Student Copy must be retained by the candidate for future correspondence.

Scholarship Provisions : 

The fee is a little heft when compared to most other colleges that are this nascent but with the infrastructure that the institute provides, it is totally worth it. Although when compared to most other specialization courses across the board, Mumbai University courses are extremely affordable. Financial assistance can be applied for under certain schemes, particularly for minorities from the Shetty Community. Getting a role on campus is unheard of but there are definitely provisions for students interning and working part-time. Most lecturers are very accommodating when it comes to the students that are working or interning.

Facilities :

The institution, its procedures and its campus has facilities for making the environment friendly for students with different types of physical and learning disability.

1.    Special quota is allotted for candidates having physical/ learning disabilities. This is in accordance to University of Mumbai circular Enrol./Elg./Admission/(2021-22/388 of 2021) and as per circular no. Special Cell/2/2008 dated 25th January, 2008.

3.    The institution provides required facilities like enlarged print, extra time, writer facility to the students appearing for examination during term-end examination as per the University of Mumbai Circular no. DBoEE/ICC/2021-22/16 (Point no. 25) for online examinations.

4.    The institution has the following physical facilities for making the environment comfortable for disabled students:

o    Ramps are provided near staircases at all entries of the institution on the ground floor.

o    Railings on staircase at college entrance

o    Institution has provision of wheel chair for students having physical disabilities

o    The institution has four lifts. Two lifts are with capacity of 5 persons is operational till 6th floor. Another two lifts with 10 persons are operational till the top most floor (9th Floor).

o    The lifts are operated by liftmen in each lift during the working hours of the institution.

o    Special disable – friendly washroom is provided on the 7th floor near the large lift.

o    The classroom are well illuminated and ventilated for comfort of these students

o    Teachers are provided with mic facility if required by these students.

o    Special rest room provision is in the campus in boys and girls common room.
