Karnatak Lingayat Education Technological University (KLE Tech) formerly known as B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVBCET), was established in the year 1947 by the Karnatak Lingayat Education Society (KLE Society), a society which has a legacy of 102 years in the field of Education and is one of the largest education Societies in the Asia continent. Colloquially called The BVB College, the private university owes its original name to the Businessman-Philanthropist Shri Basappa Veerappa Bhoomaraddi. The founding organization KLE Society, Belgaum, established BVB College to create an institution that would lay the foundation of modern Engineering education in the Northern region of Karnataka. It began as a polytechnic in Gadag but shifted to Hubli in 1948 and upgraded itself to a college. Karnatak Lingayat Education Society acquired B.V Bhoomaraddi to form KLE Technological University.

KLE Technological University (KLE Tech) with its roots in one of the premier Engineering Institutions of Karnataka, B. V. B. College of Engineering and Technology (BVB), a prestigious Engineering College in Hubballi, gained tremendous credibility with the industries and employers and over time emerged as a brand to reckon with. Under the leadership of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, BVBCET undertook a strategic initiative to transform itself into a University of National Distinction in order to maintain and enhance its relevance in meeting the ever-changing global economical demands. It was upgraded to a university under the KLE Technological University Act, 2012.

KLE Tech college campus is spread over 53 acres of land with beautiful infrastructure and modern amenities in Hubballi (Hubli), or Pubballi (“Old Village”), developed around the 11th-century stone temple of Aharanishankar.  The college is located in the Department of Civil Engineering, Vidyanagar, Hubli, Dharwad, Karnataka. Some of the notable buildings nearby include the Mahadi Mosque, the Bhavani Shankar Temple, and the city hall.

BVB (KLE Tech) is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and its undergraduate programs were accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The University has been ranked among the top 200 institutions in the NIRF -2022 rankings (National Institutional Ranking Framework) by the MHRD Government of India.  It has also been ranked among India’s top 25 private Universities under the ATAL -2020 ranking of institutions by AICTE and MHRD.

From a modest beginning of only undergraduate program in Civil Engineering, the college has indeed come a long way where now it offers 12 UG, 8 PG and Doctoral programs in 7 disciplines. The various courses offered include BE, MTech, MBA, MCA and PhD.  The eligibility for admission into the college is as follows:

BE - Students have to take any one of the Entrance Examination (CET, COMED-K, JEE or the entrance exam conducted by college)

MTech - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ GATE

MBA - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ KMA

MCA - Entrance Examination: PGCET/ KMAT

PhD - Working professionals/faculty and others with a Postgraduate qualification in the related discipline are eligible to apply for a Ph.D.

Admissions for students to any of the B.E. Programs /B.Arch. are governed by the rules and regulations of Karnataka Examination authority and Director of Technical Education, Bengaluru. Students willing to join under any of the Quota must have any one rank secured by them in CET (Karnataka) or Comed K exam or JEE at all India level.

Students willing to take admission to B.Arch. have to appear for online test conducted by Council of Architecture  (NATA) arranged in the department of Architecture in College.
