Caussanel College of Arts and Science is the brightest jewel in the crown of more than one hundred years of educational service by the Congregation who have been serving the rural masses through a network of schools, colleges, industrial schools spreadall over India.
The college is named after Rev.Fr.Adrian caussanel, a Jesuit French Missionary, who founded the congregation of the Brothers of the scared Heart in the year 1903 at palayamkottai.
The College is located in the rural coastal region of Ramanathapuram district which is socially and economi-cally backward. The people of this area make their livelihood mainly by fishing and agriculture. The path of education is hindered to these rural youth especially the girl children as they have to travel 50 kms to and fro to get their higher education.
The institution was established by the Congregation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for provid-ing higher education to the rural youth. In its educational apostolate spanning over a period of 60 years, the oganisation has been instrumental in the education of thousands of students not only from the tiny village of Muthupettai but also from numerous other remote and backward villages of Ramanathapuram district paving the way for their social and economic development by way of gainful employment. It would not be an exag-geration to say that if it was not the efforts of the organisation in the area of education, most children from these villages would not have seen the light of education. In the area of education of girls too, the oganistion has played a very significant role.

VISION
We envision that, quality y education is made accessible and affordable to all, irrespective of caste, creed and economic status so that the human resourcesof the youth are utilized maximum to the development of individuals and the society as a whole.

MISSION
We run higher educational institution to make quality treasury education available to the rural youth in Ramanathapuram and the neighbouring districts.

OBJECTIVES
To offer diverse courses and innovate in the areas of pedagogy and learning so that the rural youth are able to bring out their potentials and develop their competencies required for their personal and social development.

Candidates must have passed Class 12. Candidates applying for BA, BCom, and BSc must have passed Class 12 with the minimum marks required for each course. The eligibility criteria vary depending on the candidate's category and college.

Most of the students in our college passed with first class. There are the same salary packages. No internship is available because there is no tie-up with companies. So the placements are been held in some of the companies only. They provide good coaching for average students.

Girls Hostel
The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

Library
The college has A well-equipped library with a quality collection of books and journals related to research activities. The college library is linked to e-journals and the majority of the members of the staff.

Laboratories
The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students. Well equipped laboratories for physics and biochemistry with advanced instruments.

Auditorium
The college has A well-furnished auditorium with audio-visual aids. Multipurpose auditorium with the audio-video facility.

Cafeteria
The college has two canteens, one for the boys and one for the girls. The canteens have a well-equipped and well-stocked kitchen and are operated by contractors who interact with the Canteen Committee for providing the students and the staff with a variety of nutritious and refreshing drinks and edibles.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students. A dispensary with a full-time nurse available in the college.

I.T Infrastructure
The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. Digital language lab with advanced software with 30 computer terminals and internet connectivity. The four computer laboratories with 140 computer terminals with three 10 VK UPS and one 5 VK UPS. The computers are connected through LAN and have Wi-Fi internet connectivity. Seven A/C machines are installed in the computer labs for the benefit of the users.

Gym
The college has a Gym facility for the students. A Fitness Centre with two crossbars and weight lifting tools.

Sports
The college has sports facilities for all students. The sports facilities are used by all the students during the sports hour and after college hours. Players from the University and neighboring institutions use them for regular practice and conduct of tournaments. One Football Ground, Two Volleyball Courts, One Beach volley Ball Court, One Badminton Court, One Basket Ball Court, One Kho Kho Court, One Kabaddi Court.
