Admission Procedure

Central University of Tamil Nadu Admission Procedure for Doctoral Courses

• Aspirants must qualify National Level Fellowship Examinations like UGC-CSIR -JRF/UGC-JRF.

•  Aspirants who have not appeared for National Level Fellowship Examinations must appear for CUCET.

• Aspirants who have qualified in the National Level Fellowship Examinations need not appear for CUCET and directly appear for the interview.

• The final admissions are offered on the basis of performance in the qualifying examination, interview, seat allotment, verification of documents and payment of admission fees.

Central University of Tamil Nadu Documents Required

• Copy of Central Universities Common Entrance Test scorecard.

• 4 passport size photographs.

• Original documents (degree and marksheets) of all academic qualifications i.e. 10th, 12th, graduation, post graduation etc. 

• One set of photocopies of all original relevant documents.

Placement

Students pursuing any of CUTN’s courses get the opportunity to participate in its recruitment drive. The CUTN placement is conducted every year by the university’s placement cell, wherein they ensure to bring about the best companies for the students. According to NIRF data 2022 of Central University of Tamil Nadu, the highest median salary for PG students was as high as Rs 900,000 in 2020. For five-year Integrated courses, the students cracked the highest median salary of Rs 3,30,000 during Central University of Tamil Nadu placements 2021. The college fosters internships with institutions like IITs, IISERs, and NITs. However, no official internship program is yet established, although faculty provide guidance and opportunities for students to engage in practical experiences.

Scholarship

The detail of rewards given under the Central Sector Scholarship scheme. An annual scholarship amount of INR 10,000 for 1st three years of graduation. In case of a 5-year integrated course (professional studies), INR 20,000 per year is given to students during the 4th and 5th years of study.

Scholarships at the university are primarily available through central and state government programs, including the National Scholarship Portal. Scholarships are offered for SC/ST, OBC, and minority students, with specific provisions for students from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. SC/ST students are exempt from hostel fees. The university does not offer direct scholarships but encourages students to apply for government-funded options such as UGC, DST, Inspire, and Indira Gandhi scholarships. Scholarships are based on criteria such as academic performance, family income, and minority status.

Central University of Tamil Nadu offers a wide range of facilities and infrastructure to its students. Central University of Tamil Nadu facilities include a well-equipped library with a rich collection of books, printed and electronic journals, health care centre to provide emergency treatment to students, faculty members and staffers of the university. The college has a world class IT infrastructure facility, sports ground for the physical and mental well being of the students. The library at CUTN has a large library with books, magazines, and electronic resources. The library has 42,000 books, 114 CDs/DVDs, and 200 printed journals in its collection. With the help of UGC-INFONET, e-Shodh Sindhu, J-Gate, and JSTOR, users can browse over 6000 online electronic journals. The library is fully digital, with self-check-in and check-out facilities. It offers quick access to Open Library services such as Swayam Prabha, e-pathshala, IndiaStat, and DOAJ.

The CUTN Data Centre uses optical fibre to provide super high-speed internet to academic and administrative buildings, libraries, and hostels. It also partners with state-of-the-art software providers to manage servers that offer internet facilities for administration, enrollment, examinations, library, e-resources, institutional email, and research. A LAN network infrastructure also provides reliable and flexible internet access for CUTN employees, students, and computer labs with gigabit ethernet bandwidth.

By Air:The nearest major airport to Thiruvarur is Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ), which is approximately 130 kilometers away from the university. From the airport, you can choose from the following options: – Taxi: You can hire a pre-paid taxi or a ride-sharing service from the airport to Thiruvarur. The journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

Bus: Regular buses operate from Tiruchirappalli to Thiruvarur. You have the option to either take a direct bus to Thiruvarur Bus Stand or travel to Thanjavur first and then catch a connecting bus to Thiruvarur. From there, you can continue your journey to the university by hiring an auto-rickshaw or taxi.

By Train:Thiruvarur Junction is the nearest railway station to the Central University of Tamil Nadu. It is well-connected to major cities in India. Once you arrive at Thiruvarur Junction, you have the following options to reach the university: –

Auto-rickshaw: Auto-rickshaws are readily available at the railway station. You can hire one to take you directly to the university camp– Using public transport, you can reach the university from the Old Thiruvarur Bus Stand, which is situated close to the railway station. First, board a local bus headed towards Myladuthurai or Nanilam, and disembark at Kangalancheri bus stop. From there, you have the option to either take an auto-rickshaw directly to the university or enjoy a picturesque 3-kilometer walk along the river Vattaru, to reach the university.
