CMS College of Science and Commerce is a premier institution based in Coimbatore for higher education. It was established in 1988 by the CMS Educational and Charitable Trust, a non-profit organization. As a centre for academic excellence, CMS offers affordable and quality education to thousands of aspirants every year. MILESTONES
AUTONOMY
Our college received the accolade of Autonomy in 2007, marking it as a turning point in curriculum design and development. It has enabled the institution to frame its own syllabus, effectively implementing creative and innovative programmes in teaching, learning and evaluation, while making existing programmes more career-oriented through an efficient system of review & redesigning. Each discipline has a Board of Studies that is met annually revisits the syllabi/curriculum, which then goes for final ratification to the Academic Council with the Principal as its Chairperson, Heads of Departments and a University Representative as its members.

For Curriculum Development (CD), the institution follows a three-step approach, involving feedback on its utility, performance from students, faculty, parents, alumni, industries. We conduct In-depth trend analysis, seminars, and workshops, thrust area identification.

The industry trends and societal projections for the next 5 years are done with the availability of experts, expertise, training, tools and techniques. The curriculum proposed is subject to annual review at the meetings of the Board of Studies. Once in three years the departments undertake a total review/ revision of the curriculam.

Obtaining the Application form and Prospectus
The Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained in person from the office of CMS College of Science and Commerce, Chinnavedampatti, Coimbatore – 641049.

Eligibility and criteria for Admission
Admissions to all the courses are on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination.
Candidates for UG courses must have completed 17 years of age but should not to over 21 years of age as on the 1st of July of the year of admission.
Admission is given on the clear mandate that those admitted will abide by all the rules (framed by the college or the university) that exist at the time of admission as well as those that may come into effect at a later date.
Any student violating the rules or regulations of the college will be liable to disciplinary action.
Ragging in any form is strictly forbidden.

Statement of Marks issued by the Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent.
Transfer certificate.
Conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution where the candidate studied last.
Community certificate.
Eligibility certificate, if necessary.
2 attested copies each of all the above certificates.
2 Copies of Aadhaar Card
2 Stamp-size and 4 passport-size colour photographs.

PG COURSE

All the original certificates as well as testimonials should be handed over to the Principal at the time of admission. Those who are selected must join the college on the dates specified in the admission card.

Discontinuation of Course
The college reserves the right to cancel the admission, if any information provided by the candidate at the time of admission is found to be false or if the qualification of the candidate is not approved by the university. The management reserves the absolute right to enforce or keep in abeyance all the above rules and regulations for such time as they may deem fit. These rules and regulations are subject to change from time to time.

The Placement Office facilitates the students to explore the world of employment and new career avenues. It also helps students in career planning through counseling, where in they gather information about themselves in terms of their interests, aptitudes and abilities so that they can choose their career more effectively. The objective of the Placement Office is also on the professional development of the students by training them towards employability skills such as resume building, Aptitude, group discussion and interview skills which in turn helps the students to move into a desired occupation.

The department takes initiative to explore new career avenues for graduates and postgraduates through visits to new companies and unexplored sectors. On & Off-Campus recruitments are organized every year. The selection process generally starts with a pre-placement talk in which a firm/organization gives the students insights into the company profile, job profile, career path, CTC, etc. which is followed by the actual selection process i.e., written test, group discussion, Technical interview & HR etc.

In addition, the Placement Cell also arranges opportunities to the students for part-time jobs, and project work, internships in companies in and around Coimbatore.

From its inception, more than 100 Placement Opportunities have been arranged for the students. Some scholarships to students who secured good marks in the 12th standard. Specifically, students who got over 90 percent of Marks in their higher secondary examination will get a 20 percent of fee concession for every semester. For sports people also there was a fee concession, one of my friends got a 100 percent fee concession because he was a State player in some game. Financial assistance was also good. Finally, come to placement, there are more than 30 top IT companies that come to recruit the students. Students who got the talent and ability to clear the campus interview are got placed. The campus also provides some internship opportunities to students with a good stipend.
