About

The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, one of the constituent Colleges of the Central Agricultural University was established through the promulgation of an Ordinance in the year 1997.  CVSAH, Selesih is a premier Institute located in Mizoram.  The jurisdiction of the College extends to different North Eastern Hill States comprising of the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim.  Mr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar is the Dean of the college.

The Mandates of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry are 1.To impart education in different branches of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry 2. To further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research on Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry 3.To undertake programs of Extension Education in the States under jurisdiction, and 4. To undertake such other activities in the fields of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry as it may deem fit from time to time. 

The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry campus is nestled in over 168.61 acres of land, mostly hilly terrain at an altitude of 965 meters above the mean sea level.   The college is located at Zuangtui to Selesih,  Selesih, 12 kilometers North of Aizawl, Mizoram on the Aizawl-Sihphir-Silchar State Highway.  

The CVSAH is Affiliated to Central Agricultural University, Imphal.  It is approved by UGC and VCI, New Delhi.  The college is accredited by ICAR.

The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry is offering five and half Year B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree program including a compulsory internship of “one year” duration undertaken after successful completion of all credits as prescribed in the syllabus.  Apart from this the College also offers postgraduate, M.V.Sc, and Ph.D. Programs in various disciplines of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.

B.V.SC & AH - 5.5 Years Course

Admission Process

• State quota seats: filled through state-level entrance exams and nomination by respective state departments.

• VCI quota (15%): admissions based on NEET-UG merit, followed by VCI-conducted counseling.

• Self-Financed category seats: open to candidates across India; selection is based on NEET-UG merit, subject to university’s eligibility norms.

Eligiblity

• Total intake capacity: around 67 seats per academic year. 

• Seats are primarily filled through state nominations by the respective governments of the North Eastern Hill States (Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura), based on competitive entrance exams conducted by those states. 

• 15% of seats are reserved for candidates recommended by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi, through All-India competitive exams (UG NEET).

M.V.SC - 2 Years Course

Admission Process

• Admission is based on the All-India Competitive Examination conducted by CAU.

• Additionally, 25% of seats are reserved for candidates qualifying the ICAR PG entrance test, who are then nominated through ICAR counseling

• General, OBC, UPS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc) with OGPA ≥ 6.60 /10.00.

• SC/ST: Minimum OGPA ≥ 5.60 /10.00
