College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Selesih (CVSAH)
The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, one of the constituent Colleges of the Central Agricultural University was established through the promulgation of an Ordinance in the year 1997. CVSAH, Selesih is a premier Institute located in Mizoram. The jurisdiction of the College extends to different North Eastern Hill States comprising of the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim. Mr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar is the Dean of the college.
The Mandates of the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry are 1.To impart education in different branches of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry 2. To further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research on Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry 3.To undertake programs of Extension Education in the States under jurisdiction, and 4. To undertake such other activities in the fields of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry as it may deem fit from time to time.
The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry campus is nestled in over 168.61 acres of land, mostly hilly terrain at an altitude of 965 meters above the mean sea level. The college is located at Zuangtui to Selesih, Selesih, 12 kilometers North of Aizawl, Mizoram on the Aizawl-Sihphir-Silchar State Highway.
The CVSAH is Affiliated to Central Agricultural University, Imphal. It is approved by UGC and VCI, New Delhi. The college is accredited by ICAR.
The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry is offering five and half Year B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree program including a compulsory internship of “one year” duration undertaken after successful completion of all credits as prescribed in the syllabus. Apart from this the College also offers postgraduate, M.V.Sc, and Ph.D. Programs in various disciplines of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
CVSAH provides the best infrastructural facilities all around the campus like Administrative Block, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Gym, Hospital / Medical Facilities, Hostel, Labs, Library, Sports Complex. The well experienced Faculty imparts quality education by offering its vast experience into ample of courses with the use of technology resulting in developing standards of the society as well as the nation. In totality, the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry ensures Good infrastructure is made available for the benefit of its students and staff. Moreover it strives to develope entrepreneur qualities among student by even providing Special classes for slow learners and average students.
Mission
Keeping the mandates in view, the mission of the University is to be a Centre of Excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
The College has 17(seventeen) teaching Departments including Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC) and Instruction Livestock Farm (ILFC) as per the Minimum Standard for Veterinary Education regulations-2016 prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India. The 17 teaching Departments are:

Admission: Through NTA NEET UG score
On the basis of merit through NEET UG examination conducted by NTA.
Minimum Eligibility Qualification
10+2 examination/equivalent examination conducted by an Education Board/University/Council (duly recognized by the Rajasthan Board, CBSE, New Delhi) with not less than pass marks in each subject and not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. However, in the case of SC/ST candidates, the minimum aggregate required is 40%. OR Any examination of a University/Education Board/ College/School in a foreign country recognized by the Academic Council as an equivalent for the purpose with good knowledge of English.
Minimum Age
17 years on or before the 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year of B.V.Sc. & A.H. course.
Academic Blocks
The College has six Academic Blocks viz. Main Academic Block, New Academic Block, TVCC, Department of Surgery and Radiology, Department of LPT and Department of LPM. The main Academic Block is accommodating 8 teaching Departments namely, Veterinary Anatomy, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Physiology & Biochemistry, Animal Genetics & Breeding, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology and Veterinary & AH Extension Education.
The New Academic Block is housing 3 teaching Departments namely, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pathology and Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology. The teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex is housing the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Animal Reproduction, Gynecology & Obstetrics while the Department of Livestock Production & Management is located in the Instructional Livestock Farm complex. The two additional Academic Blocks is housing the Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology and Department of Livestock Products Technology.
TEACHING VETERINARY CLINICAL COMPLEX
The College has a well equipped TVCC for clinical training of the undergraduate students and to extend clinical Services to sick animals. It has both the inward and outward patients Units. Advanced diagnostic facilities like X-ray and Ultrasonography Units are available in the TVCC.
ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK
The Administrative Block houses the Dean’s Office comprising of Establishment, Accounts, Academic, Stores & Purchase, Engineering/Estate, Horticultural Section etc. The Administrative Block has a well furnished Conference Room and a Seminar Hall.
CLASS ROOMS
The College has a Central Lecture Halls Block consisting of 6 Lecture Halls with seating capacity of 60 students each. All the Lecture Halls are provided with multimedia teaching aids and other audiovisual aids for effective teaching.
Boys’ & Girls’ Hostel
The College has 4 Hostels for Undergraduate students, 2 each for boys’ and girls’ respectively in addition to a separate hostel for Postgraduate Boys’ with a capacity of 44 students. Besides the existing five hostels, two more hostels for PG hostels (one each for Boys’ and Girls’) are also under construction. All the hostels are fully furnished and have sufficient recreational facilities. To promote good reading habits, hostel Libraries are also established separately in Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels where 10 copies of standard text book in all disciplines have been provided. All the hostels are also provided with sufficient number of computers with internet facility.
Library
The College has good collection of reading materials in the form of books, journals, bulletins, etc. The College is also accessible to around 2000 national and international e-journals through e-journal consortiums viz. Del-CON and CeRA. Library regularly procures the latest editions of books/publications. It also provides reference retrieval system/facility through CD ROM and printouts. A reprography facility is also available in the Library to cater the photocopying needs of the students and staff. The Library also has a Computer laboratory equipped with 10(ten) numbers of computers connected with internet.
