Overview:
Power Electronics and Drives is a specialized area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering involving the control and conversion of electric power using solid-state techniques. The students are exposed to various areas including advanced power semiconductor devices, Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, analysis of power converters and inverters, solid state ac drives and dc drives, computer aided design of electrical machines, modern rectifiers and resonant converters, flexible ac transmission systems, wind energy conversion systems, power quality etc. The students will also be exposed to various simulation packages like MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSIM/ORCAD, MAGNET, PSCAD etc.

ME Power Electronics And Drives Admission Process
The admission procedure for the ME in Power Electronics course varies from one college to another. The admission is done either based on TANCET/GATE/BITS-HD etc. Candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for these exams.
Candidates are admitted for the course with a valid GATE score. Thus, candidates with either their previous valid GATE score can apply for admission or apply for GATE.
General candidates require at least 60% marks in their undergraduate degree or 55% for SC/ST candidates.
Candidates that do not have valid GATE scores, will have to sit for the entrance exam conducted by the respective university. However, priority is given to candidates with a valid GATE score. The remaining vacant seats are given to candidates with non-GATE scores.
Candidates before applying for the course must qualify for the eligibility criteria of the respective course.
