M.E - Petroleum Engineering
Overview:
M.E. Petroleum Engineering also known as Master of Technology in Petroleum Engineering is a course for postgraduate aspirants. Like most other postgraduate courses it engages the candidates in a 2 year programme.
A candidate pursuing M.E in Petroleum Engineering will have to deal with various aspects of modelling the reservoir, maximizing oil studying and fluid movement, and gas recovery. Another important aspect in this course revolves around production, where one has to work to remove crude oil, gas and water from a reservoir to the surface so as to separate and treat each fluid.
If one is interested to study this 2 year course on Petroleum Engineering, then he/she must have passed BE/BTech or a relevant degree scoring a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Further, different colleges have different cut offs and entrance criteria passing which one is able to occupy a seat in that particular college.
After graduating, students in a regular firm may earn up to INR 6-7 LPA, while some renowned companies like Indian Oil, ONGC pay their senior managerial employees around INR 30 LPA. Moreover, after completing this Masters Degree can work in three different sectors, like Private sector, Public sector, and Research unit. One can see themselves working as Professor, Petroleum Engineer, Structural Engineer, Operation Trainee, Research Associate, Project Assistant, Manager, Advisor and so on.
