Overview:

M.E in Marine Engineering is a 2 year full time post graduate program. This course provides knowledge about ship construction and other marine operations. This is a branch of engineering with deals with the repair and maintenance of the ship or ship parts. Candidates who have completed B.tech in marine Engineering or in any relevant stream etc.

To take admission in the course, candidates will be required to appear in the entrance test. Some of the entrance tests are HITSEEE, ITSAT, JEE Main etc. Candidates need to clear the entrance exam and attend the counseling process. The average course fees are INR 1,00,000 - 7,00,000 per annum. Some of the top colleges in India are National Institute of Technology, Indian Maritime University, Cochin University . There are several other universities that offer similar courses such as M.Tech in naval Architecture and Marine Engineering,  M.E Marine management etc.

Post completion of the course, the candidate can choose to do jobs in Shipping manufacturing companies, Marine machinery manufacturing companies, Marine Workshops and even government organizations such as Indian Defence services etc. They can be appointed at the post of Design Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Chief Security officer, navy personnel, etc. A fresh graduate can expect a starting salary of INR 4,12,000 - 5,50,000 per annum.
