Overview:

M.A Bengali, a 2-year postgraduate course, offered by a number of colleges in the State of West Bengal in India, focuses on various aspects such as history of the Bengali language and literature. It covers aspects of developments that the language has seen over its more than 1300 years of recorded existence.

The course covers a variety of topics related to the Bengali language and literature including Bengali linguistics, History of Bengali language and literature, Computer application in Bengali language and literature, Folklore and folk literature, Bengali drama, Research methodology, Bengali stories and novels, Modern Bengali poetry, Eastern and Western literary theories, and Introduction to Bengali media studies
