Overview:

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a five-year undergraduate program in India that prepares students to become Dentists.

To be eligible, candidates must have passed 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must clear an entrance exam like NEET.

The BDS curriculum covers subjects such As Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Dental Materials, and Clinical Dentistry. The program consists of four years of academic study followed by a one-year internship, which provides practical experience in various dental specialties.

After completing the course, graduates are awarded the title of "Dr" and can practice dentistry upon obtaining a license from the Dental Council of India (DCI).

Admission Procedure For B.D.S Bachelor of Dental Surgery:

The admission process for a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course in India involves the following steps:

  • Candidates must pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) or a state-level entrance exam.
  • Candidates must meet the educational requirements and score at least the minimum required in the entrance exam.
  • Eligible candidates must register for counseling and fill in their preferences for dental colleges and courses.
  • Candidates must verify their documents, including mark sheets, certificates, and identity proof.
  • Seats are allotted based on the candidate's rank in the entrance exam and their choices.
  • Candidates must report to the allotted dental college within the specified time frame to complete the admission formalities.
  • Candidates must pay the fees as fixed by the college.
Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility For B.D.S  Bachelor of Dental Surgery:

  • All candidates must have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised board.
  • All candidates must have the following as their core subjects in their 10+2: Chemistry, Biology & Physics.
  • All candidates must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate (for General category students) and 40% (for reserved category students) in their qualifying examination.
  • The lower age limit for candidates to be eligible for BDS course admission is 17 years, whereas, the upper age limit for the same is 25 years.
