Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering (DCE), an offshoot of the esteemed Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust was set up near Tambaram at Chennai in the year 2001-2002.  Dr V P Ramamurthi (fondly known as Dr VPR), the founder, is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy (now Anna University).  He was passionate about teaching and  dedicated to training world-class engineers who would shape technological innovations of the future.  To fulfil the dream of serving the student community, Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering,  the brain child of the Clairvoyant and committed academician Dr VPR was established.  A dynamic team of eminent academicians, technocrats and engineers led by the founder forms the backbone of the college management.  DCE is a sister institute of the Indian Institute of Professional Education (IIPE), an institute offering coaching for professional courses entrance examinations, also founded by Dr VPR in the year 1993.The campus of Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering is spread over 13 acres of land. 

Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering  is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to the Anna University (Chennai).  The institution is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).  The undergraduate programmes accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) are CSE and ECE.

Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering offers several diverse UG (BE/BTech) and PG(ME/MTech) courses for Degree in Full Time mode.  Student has the option to choose courses like B.E. / B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech with stream of Engineering and IT & Software Institute provides opportunity to students to gain proficiency & expertise in the specialization of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering.Most importantly, these courses with 456 seats are imparted at affordable fees, which increase accessibility and allow students to gain knowledge and skills in their chosen field.

Admission Process

Admissions are based on the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) scores. Candidates must apply for TANCET, and based on their scores, participate in the counseling process conducted by Anna University.

• Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 50% marks.

To continue receiving the scholarship in subsequent years, students must maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or above without any arrears.

Placement

The placement cell continuously works to identify requirements of companies and co-ordinates with the training cell and the career development cell to train the students. The Team maps the right talent to the right industry. It has been working meticulously to achieve 100% placements year after year. The placement cell focuses more on giving opportunities in core industries to the students.

The placement cell has introduced the "Earn While You Learn" model through paid internships. The students are prepared for interviews and are placed for internships. The students are paid a stipend, ranging from Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 25,000/- during their internship period. The internship model helps the students and the corporate to understand each other better, paving the way for the students to get placed in the companies. The cell continuously monitors their progress and facilitates the students to upgrade their skill-set appropriately. Special timetables and procedures are designed to facilitate the students to complete their regular curriculum during their internship.

DCE operates multiple bus routes covering key areas such as Tambaram, Guduvanchery, Hasthinapuram, ICF, Krishna Nagar, Muthamizh Nagar, Mogappair, Madambakkam, Velachery, Nanganallur, Perambur, Perungalathur, Perungudi, Pammal, Vandalur, and Tiruvallur, Buses commence as early as 5:40 AM from distant locations, ensuring timely arrival at the college by approximately 8:00 AM. Return trips are scheduled post classes, accommodating students' convenience.
