The Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty's Hindu College was started in the year 1969 at Pattabiram, a semi - urban area of Chennai, to commemorate the birth centenary of our illustrious founder, Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty Garu whose services were praised by Dr.Annie Besant and Mahakavi Bharathiar.
Our College is situated in the Chennai - Thiruvallur High Road at a distance of about 25 Kms from Chennai. It is easily accessible by city buses as well as sub-urban trains. There is a railway station in front of the College with the name 'Hindu College' which has been laid with the efforts of the old students and staff of our college. All passenger, sub-urban trains in the Chennai-Tiruvallur-Arakkonam route stop here. Concessional tickets for Train and Bus are given to all the eligible students of the College.
The College campus consists of Six Blocks, Library, Computer Labs, Electronics Lab,Visual Communication, Multimedia Lab, Commerce Lab, Auditorium, Generator, Women's Waiting Hall, NCC Parade ground, NCC Obstacles Court, Play Fields, Vehicle parking sheds and temple. Our students are trained for holistic development and empowered with necessary skills to face the society.
The college has the committees of Ragging Redressal Cell,Campus discipline,Students grievance redressal cell and Women grievance redressal cell.
The college has membership with other institutions like Andhra Chamber of Commerce, Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, American Library, British Council Library, Madras University Library and ICSSR.

Sri M.V. Cunniah Chetty, B.Sc., B.Com., became the Secretary of the college on 6th June 1990. He introduced Evening College in the campus in the academic year 1995 - 1996. The Evening College is under self financing stream and it is absolutely service oriented. He was instrumental in introducing B.Sc., Computer Science, B.Com., B.B.A., B.Sc. Mathematics, B.C.A., B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship, B.Sc. Electronics and Communication Science courses besides the construction of Seethamma Block which was opened by Hon'ble Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice, Madras High Court on 25th March 2000, during the Tri-Decennial Celebrations of the college.

Sri M. Venkatesaperumal, B.A., F.C.A., took charge as the Secretary of the college with effect from 01-04-2001.He secured affiliation to B.Sc., (Information Systems Management), M.Com and additional sections in B.Com. The construction of the compound wall for the entire campus was a marvelous achievement under his stewardship.

The 'Dharmamurthi Calavala Cunnan Chetty Block' was opened by Sri. V.R. Bakthavatsalam, the then President of the Board of Trustees, on 8th September 2003. The cunnan auditorium was opened by Sri. Vummidi Sreehari, Trustee on 10th April, 2005. This spacious auditorium can accommodate up to one thousand students.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : 12th standard Commerce and accountancy marks will determine the eligibility for admission into the college. No entrance exam is there. Cutoff is 90% in Commerce and accountancy in 12th 

Placement In  final year campus interviews are given to students. Various company comes to the college for hiring students and job opportunities are given with a good salary package. college also provides training for the students for attending the training.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions: Fees structure for accounting and finance is 13500 for one semester it's better while compared to other colleges. This college has two shifts one day shift and the other evening shift. The scholarship is given to sc and st students.

Canteen

Our college has a canteen located adjacent to the main building. It has separate Dining-Halls for boys and girls. Snacks, refreshments as well as meals are provided at nominal rates to the students and staff.

Aavin Parlour

Our college in arrangement with Aavin has started a ‘Parlour’ to provide quality milk and milk products including ice cream for the benefit of students.

Banking Service

Indian Overseas Bank has a branch in the college campus and offers banking and other related facilities to the students, staff and general public.

Banking hours: Monday to Friday: 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., Saturday: 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon, Sunday Holiday

Karur Vysya Bank operates an Extension Counter in the Evening college premises to collect fee from Shift-II students in the months of June (10 days) and November / December (10 days) every year.

Ladies Waiting Lounge

The Ladies Waiting Lounge is spacious and furnished with ample seating. There is a closed section with a cot for sick students to take rest. It has sanitary napkin vending & incinerator units with rest rooms attached.

Medical Facility

All students must undergo medical checkup conducted by the college every year. Emergency cases are referred to nearby hospitals and reported to their parents immediately.

First Aid Boxes

First Aid Boxes with basic medicines are kept in different places for students requirement.

PCO

There is a coin operated telephone for the use of students at the entrance of office.

News Paper

Business Line, Economic Times and Indian Express are provided to the students at concessional rate.

Newspapers are kept at the entrance of the each block for students reading.

Gym

The Department of Physical Education of our college offers Gym facility for the benefit of our students.

Internet Cabin

An Internet cabin with two computers is provided for the benefit of students in the Library Reading Room.

Photo copying Machines

Photo copying machines are placed in Library and Aavin Parlour for students usage.

Safety Services

Safety of our students is of prime importance to our college. Our campus is equipped with fire safety equipment in all vantage points. We provide portable water to all our students. First aid kits is available to handle basic emergency situations. We ensure safe learning experiment for all our students
