Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (Dr. AIT) is an autonomous engineering college and is one of the 25 Educational Institutions managed by Panchajanya Vidya Peeta Welfare Trust. The Institute, named after B. R. Ambedkar, was established in the year 1980 by Late Sri M H Jayaprakash Narayan, Ex MLA and founder Managing Trustee of PVP Welfare Trust and Secretary of the Institute. In the year 2010, academic autonomy was conferred by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, which has enabled the institution to frame its own curriculum, examinations and awarding of the degrees. 

With State of the Art Infrastructure and a campus sprawling in 23 acres of land, Dr. AIT is located on the Outer Ring Road near Jnana Bharathi Campus, Nagarbhavi, Mallathahalli, Bengaluru.   

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and is recognised by UGC, New Delhi. The Institute is accredited by AICTE, NBA, IQAC and NAAC with ‘A+’ Grade. The Institution has achieved 163 Rank in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

The institute offers Graduate, Post graduate and Doctoral courses in all its disciplines. The programs offered are UG – BE (12 disciplines), PG - MTech (5 disciplines), MBA, MCA as well as PhD Degree Program. The Eligibility for admission for UG program is based on KEA/COMED-K scores.  Eligibility for MTech is a valid GATE score or PGCET of Karnataka.  For MBA admission is based on valid scores obtained in KMT/CAT/MAT/PGCET.  And for MCA candidates it is mandatory to have KMT/PGCET score.

Scholarships are offered to deserving students of UG, PG and PhD from various sources to encourage their academic excellence.

Dr. AIT Prides itself in the ability to provide an education that is coveted not only within India but abroad as well. Dr. AIT has given admission to foreign nationals of carious countries like Nepali, Kenya & Vietnam etc., under the superannuation quota of 15% reserved for international students in all courses.

There are several buildings in the Dr. AIT campus catering to superior Infrastructural facilities like Hostels, canteen, Well-stocked Digital Library along with well-ventilated Classrooms and high-tech Laboratories. The Training and Placement Cell organizes various Training activities on the campus to enhance employability of students and help build good rapport with companies that visits the college for recruiting the eligible candidates by testing their employability skills. The curriculum which is designed to train the students for challenging the Interview, along with the Pre-placement Training that is organized by the Placement Cell are of great benefit to the aspiring students. TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, IBM, Intel, Mindtree, Wipro etc. are some of the core companies that visit and take part in Campus Recruitment Drive. 

Alumni of the institution also actively participate in various occasions to share their college experiences as well as to give back to their Alma Mater by notable donations and other kinds of support.

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology is one of the 200 colleges selected for receiving the World Bank assistance under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) through the government of India. The institute is the recipient of several grants sanctioned by AICTE, DST and VTU.  It is one of the oldest colleges in Engineering which is fully aided by the Government of Karnataka.

CAREER GUIDANCE & PLACEMENT CELL

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of the college provides guidance and all the assistance for the students in order to achieve their career goals. The unit takes right steps in identifying the demands of the current industry and prepares our students towards this need. Adequate emphasis is given for aptitude and soft skill development complementing the regular academic programmes.

The goal of Career Guidance & Placement Cell is to provide employment opportunities and market ready training to Students. At Dr.AIT with a track record of very productive relationships with corporations of all sizes, from start-upstomature,successful enterprises,our institutions provide the students with education, research and connections to corporate. The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of the Institute centrally handles campus placement of the graduating students of our campus. The Cell provides complete support to the visiting companies at every stage of placement process. The Cell takes care and provides infrastructurefor Testing halls, Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests, Interviews and Group Discussions are made as per the requirement of the visiting companies.

Placements are benchmark to the performance of any management institute and itdepicts the success and the growth of the institutions. The Objective of the placement cell is to facilitate the process of placement & ensure that each eligible student gets an opportunity in the industries. The cell aims to achieve 80% - 90% placement assistance to our students. We work on placing our students with core companies of the respective discipline of education.The students are placed according to their interest and skill that areset by the organizations where they can work and also increase their creativity & innovation in the development of technology as well as the organization.

In the year 2015, training and placement activities of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology was outsourced to the Company called Edumatic solutions. Thus, Edumatic solutions in collaboration with Dr. AIT was handling all the training and placement related activities from October 2015 to December, 2021.

As per the agreement, after the successful completion of their term period of Six years’ service, Dr. AIT has taken the responsibility of all the training and placement related activities from January 2022 as a separate entity by discontinuing its collaboration with Edumatic Solutions.

•  Provides full-fledged training :

  We provide 40hr intensive pre-placement training for final year students focusing on cracking all areas of interview such as aptitude, group discussion, HR interview, verbal, Resume building so on and 20hr of training on specialized domain. In addition to this we have introduced long term training program starting from the first year itself that is included it in their regular academic routine.

•  Provide Internship opportunities for students :

  We identify companies looking for interns and channel our students in getting internship. Some of the internships are converted to permanent jobs as well

•  Arrange for an interactive seminar with top industrial pioneers :

  This is to bridge gap between students and company requirement. Students can get a better understanding of the industry and their function. They interact and put forward their questions and queries and get a deeper understanding of how they have to prepare themselves.

•  Invite major companies throughout the year for recruitment :

  Every student is given a chance to contest as many companies as possible until he/she receives two offers. We invite some mass recruiters such as TCS, Wistron, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Wipro etc to secure a place for maximum number of students. After which the student can selectively interview for the dream company of his/her choice. In the past year we have companies offering packages starting from CTC 3lac/annum to 25lac/annum. We are expecting increase in companies visiting this year as well.

•  Provide Guidance on Higher Studies opportunities for students :

  We provide the Guidance on Higher Studies which encourages them to choose on the reputed universities across India and Abroad for their Higher Education. And we also give the information about the Government Sector opportunities like Civil Service Examinations, IBPS, SSC, RRB, Indian Navy. Etc.,

1991- onwards independent Library building named Dr.Ambedkar Centenary Bhavan 1+3 storied building 1778 sq.mtrs. Now the Library is fully furnished with good collection of 82966 books 20741 titles.

It helps to improve all-round development of the human being. The Campus has good infrastructure for out door sports like Cricket ground, 200mtrs track with pavilion, foot ball ground Basket Ball court, Hockey ground, volley ball court, Kho-Kh0 court ,Throw Ball court, In door facilitieslike Multi gymnasium, Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carom are available. Sports Participation and Achievements 1. Chitra Shree N, student of 2nd Semester of ETE department won Dasara Karate competition in Sept. 2022. And also participated in the Shivmogga Open 3rd International Karate Championship 2022 held at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Shivmogga on 21.08.2022 and has won Gold medal in under 21 years female category. 2. Vijaya Lakshmi H J, 7th Semester student of ECE dept. won 2nd Prize in Dasara Judo competition in 63 KG category. Also won Gold Medal in VTU Inter-Collegiate Inter Zone Judo Tournament. 3. VTU inter-college Throw-ball women’s tournament (central zone) was held at The Oxford College of Engineering, Bangalore on 6th June 2022 and 7th June, 2022. Dr AIT Students has participated in VTU Handball tournament held at New Horizon College of Engineering on 23rd June 2022. 4. JPN Intra College Pro Kabaddi Tournament was organized at Dr. AIT Campus and inaugurated on 21-06-2022. Also Volley Ball Tournament was organized at Dr. AIT Campus and inaugurated on 23-06-2022. 5. Shishira Gowda represented Karnataka in Senior Women’s One Day Cricket Tournament 2021-22 (Ranji Trophy) 6. Mr. Gagan Redy of I sem ISE, participated in International Road Cycle Race Competition held at Brazil on 1, July, 2018. 7. The Institute organized induction programme in sports for the First year students. 8. The institute’s Badminton Team participated in VTU Inter Collegiate Badminton Tournament held at S.E.A.
