Dr. G U Pope College of Engineering - GUPCE is the realization of the heartfelt aspirations of Sawyerpuram’s community, who longed for accessible technical education in their area. Established in the academic year 2002-2003, the college is managed by the CSI Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese. Founded by dedicated missionaries, the institution aims to provide quality education and uphold discipline in the remote regions. Adv. K Ravindran Charles is the Secretary & Correspondent.

Dr. G U Pope College of Engineering is located at Pope Nagar, Sawyerpuram, Tuticorin, Tamilnadu. The College stands on a large 40 Acres Campus. Thoothukudi Railway Station is 25 Kms away from the College, and Thoothukudi Airport is at a distance of 27 Kms.

Admission Procedure 

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, or TNEA 2025, is the gateway to students being enrolled in B.E. and B.Tech degree courses from colleges of engineering of Tamil Nadu. Regulated by the Directorate of Technical Education or DoTE, the TNEA procedure operates purely on the basis of marks by candidates in their Class 12—there's no separate entrance examination.

• Admission to BE program is given through TNEA Counselling on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

That’s why, we have set up an exclusive Training and placement cell that trains students and helps them to place the students in India’s top IT companies. Our Training and Placement cell is headed by a coordinator, who along with a team of dedicated faculty members, train students in the nuances of interview techniques, presentation skills, group discussions and so on.

In the prior academic year too our boys and girls participated in various events at the university level. We are proud to say that for 3 consecutive years we have been taking over the charge to conduct the university level events and in the previous year.It provides 24X7 Wi-Fi facilities on the campus including a hostel. It has a green and clean campus. Our computer laboratories have air-conditioning facilities, and RO drinking water facility is also available. It provides luxury air-conditioned buses for transporting around the district. Hostel food is average in this college.The Library and the Information Centre is the window to the world of Knowledge. We are living in an era of information explosion. Every hour, a new theory a thought a new philosophy, new discoveries, new innovations is released for mankind. Our college has a well equipped computerized library to satisfy the intellectual demands of our students and faculty members. It contain 10014 Volumes which include 3981 unique titles. General Dictionaries, 15 International Journal , Non Book materials, 17 Current National Journals and Projects reports.A full fledged Security surveillance system available in our college with Hi- fi gadjets to ensure our students safety. We also ensure for their full protection and not to disturb their privacy among campus. Securities guarding our campus inside and outside for 24 x 7. This proves that we are strongly protecting our students future and their welfare.

Hostel

To create a home away from home for every student, is the aim of the college hostels. We have separate hostel for boys and girls. Our Hostel wardens maintain hostel in heavenly parental care to make feel students are at their home.

Transport

A full fledged Transport department functions in the college with buses to provide transport facility to students and staff from various places. This service is offered ensuring a hassle-free and safe transportation. The College runs 6 buses for providing transport facility to students from various places in the city. The number of buses will be increased corresponding to the increase in the intake of students.
