Ganesh Charitable Trust was founded in the year 1991 with the sole objective of modernizing the higher education in Tamil Nadu. Under this trust, various institutions, under the umbrella known as A.C.S. Group of Institutions were established by our Founder-Chairman, Thiru. A.C. Shanmugam, Former M.P., and M.L.A., as manifestation of his pioneering vision and forethought. Dr. M.G.R. Chockalingam Arts College is one among them.

Dr. M.G.R. Chockalingam Arts College, an institution of academic excellence, was established in the year 1997-1998 with a cherished desire to serve the cause of humanity through higher education. This college has been affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Serkadu, Vellore-632 116 and has been recognized by the Government of TamilNadu. It is a Co-Educational Arts college offering Ten Under Graduate courses and Four Post Graduate courses and two M.Phil., Research courses.

Students are required to register along with the completed application forms. After registration, communication will be sent to those students who have been provisionally selected. The provisionally selected student has to attend an interview along with their parents on the date and time specified in the intimation card. If the student fails to attend the interview on the date and time mentioned, the provisional selection is automatically cancelled. All admissions are provisional, subject to approval by the University of Madras.


The following certificates should be produced in original at the time of interview.

The Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Course (or its equivalent) Mark certificate (Original +2 photocopies attested by a Gazetted Officer) for UG Courses and provisional Certificate or Degree Certificate for PG courses.
UG Courses: Candidates who have passed an examination other than the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary/CBSE/ICSE/National Open School should produce an eligibility certificate from the Thiruvalluvar University.
PG Courses: Candidates from any University other than the Thiruvalluvar University should produce eligibility certificate from the Thiruvalluvar University.
Transfer Certificate.
Conduct Certificate.
Community Certificate (One photocopy Attested by a Gazetted Officer) if the student belongs to BC/ MBC/SC/ ST.
Income Certificate of Parent from a person not below the rank of Tashildar (if the Student belongs to SC/ST/Christian Adi Dravida)

The Management of Dr.MGR Chockalingam Arts College has taken special steps by introducing the Placement Cell and arranging campus recruitments for the students. A large number of students secured placements during different selection camps organized for computer related, Accounts, Medical and administrative jobs including Software Development, Testing, Business Transcription, Medical Transcription and Call Centre jobs in reputed companies like Wipro, HCL, Infosys, CTS, Airtel, TCS.

At present, higher education has become very competitive. Students seek admission only in those colleges offering placement assistance. The placement cell of the college was established in the year 2001 with the twin objectives of providing career guidance and placement assistance to final year students. Generally companies target only Engineering Colleges but with the able guidance of our beloved Secretary and Principal, we were able to impress the recruiters that Dr.MGR Chockalingam Arts college is a potential source for recruitment.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions: The college promotes a number of scholarships and promotes student to take the benefits if they’re eligible for certain scholarship. The merit Scholarship, Govt. of India Scholarship, Concerned State Government Scholarships and State Departments Scholarship are some of the available scholarships for eligible students. The interested students may reach out to their concerned faculty to know more regarding certain scholarship or contact scholarship in charge faculty for the same

Library
The library is housed in a large hall stocked with a large variety of reading material. The Library has a total collection of about 10,000 books and provides access to more than 10 journals and magazines.
Laboratary
Expensive equipment have been installed in the laboratories for the benefit of the students. Great care must be taken in handling equipment. Work tables and sanitary fittings should be kept absolutely clean at all times. All breakages and losses must be reported to the concerned staff in charge immediately.

Computer Lab

We have well equipped air-conditioned Computer Laboratory which has Pentium servers and nodes. Latest software with internet connection are also available

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
All students are encouraged to take part in games and sports. Talented students are encouraged to join the college team.

The College arranges for clean boarding and lodging facilities for outstation students.


CANTEEN
There is a canteen within the campus, which serves healthy and tasty food, in a hygienic manner, at reasonable rates.
