It is a Self-Financing, Autonomous, Co-Educational Institution established in the year 1995 by the G S Pillay & Sons Charitable & Educational Trust, Nagapattinam. The commencement of this College is the vision of Chevalier. Dr.G.S.Pillay, whose determination and dynamism made possible the realization of this institution of excellence. Mrs Jothimani G.S. Pillay is the Chairman and Shri S Senthil Kumar is the Secretary of the Governing Council, ably supported by other Members of the Trust who are eminent personalities in their respective professions.

The College stands on a large campus in a semi-rural environment, very conducive to academics and research. It is located at Old, Nagore Main Rd, Thethi village, Nagore, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.Nagapattinam Railway Station is about 6 Kms from the College. EGS Pillay Engineering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE),New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an A ++ Grade. It also has a Tier-II Accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
