E G S Pillay Polytechnic College is one of the pioneering Self Financing Polytechnic Colleges in the State. It was established by the E G S Pillay & Sons Educational & Charitable Trust, Nagapattinam in the year 2011 with the sanction of the Government of Tamilnadu, approval of the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and Directorate of Technical Education, Tamilnadu. Its courses are affiliated with DOTE, Chennai.

• Eligible students are selected for admission on the basis of merit in qualifying examination
• For Lateral Entry admission, students are analysed on the basis of 12th exam marks and for 1st-year admission, marks in the 10th exam are taken into consideration
