About Us
Environmental Management & Policy Research Institute (EMPRI) is an autonomous institute established by Government of Karnataka on 17thSeptember 2002 under the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment. The Institute undertakes applied and policy research and also endeavours to provide capacity building trainings on concurrent environmental issues relevant to the society. Services provided by the institute seek to encourage and enable government, industry and civil society to safeguard and manage the natural resources effectively. It is registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960.

Keeping in line with EMPRI's commitment to protect and improve the environment, both the Main and Annexe buildings are constructed incorporating the 'Green Building Concept'. The salient features are:
Reduced carbon footprint while maintaining the ecological values of the site.
The indoor built environment quality has been optimised in terms of visual and thermal comfort through adaptive climate design features.

The foremost eligibility for admission at EMPRI is that you should have passed your UG with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Also, you must get qualifying scores in any of the deemed entrance exams such as XAT, CAT, NMAT, etc. If not, you should appear for and clear the Bangalore University Entrance Test.
Yet, a Personal Interview (PI) is mandatory for everyone, irrespective of the competitive exam that you have qualified in. You will be given additional preference if you hold work experience. The respective tuition and development fee has to be paid, once you qualify across all stages of EMPRI B-school admission.

Scholarships are awarded by EREF to recognize excellence in master’s and doctoral waste management research and education. Scholarships provide a monthly stipend from the time of the award until the student graduates. While on scholarship, students are required to work on projects related to solid waste issues. During a scholar’s tenure, EREF staff will work with scholars to integrate them into industry events such as conferences and fundraisers and facilitate visits to companies in the industry.

EMPRI's Library and Information Center is well-equipped to facilitate information and lending services for its staff. The library has a specialized collection of 4,000 information resources including books, reference works, reports, and international and national journals on environmental science disciplines. The main goal of the EMPRI library is to expand the current information and services and to provide information support to its users.
In addition to books and journals that are always available, the EMPRI library also receives bulletins, annual reports, and maps. The library of the Institute for Environmental Management and Policy (EMPRI) systematically develops the collection by identifying, evaluating, selecting, processing, researching, and disseminating information among EMPRI's scientific and technical staff.
