The university campus is spread over an area of roughly 100,000 sq metres. It is situated about 5 km from Charbagh Railway Station and is well connected to all parts of the city by public transport systems such as bus, tempo and taxi. Originally, the main administrative building, called the Administrative Block and the Anatomy and Physiolgy buildings were built in the early 20 th century. As the institution grew, more and more departments were created in new buildings. Therefore the campus really consists of a conglomeration of buildings housing the various departments, which came up over a period of 100 years as and when the need was felt. There are separate buildings for Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Rheumatology, Geriatric Mental Health, Surgical Oncology, Chest Medicine, Pathology, Pharmacology, Anaesthesiology, Opthalmology, Urology and Community Medicine. Cardiothoracic Surgery is presently in the Chest Medicine building, Microbiology along with Pathology and Biochemistry along with Physiology.

Admission Procedure

KGMU admissions are merit and entrance-based on the basis of the level and nature of the course one is opting for. King George's Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow, India, is a state government university that was ranked 11th in the NIRF 2024 Rankings. The university has more than 10 courses at different undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral levels, in Medicine, Health Sciences, and Nursing streams. The university provides direct admission for BSc programmes; however, admission to other UG and PG courses is based on national entrance exams such as NEET PG, NEET SS, NEET UG, etc.

Admission Process

King George's Medical University admissions 2025 are based on certain entrance exams for most of the courses. Candidates willing to apply for admission in the university must fill outthe application form online, Candidates must go to the official website of the separate entrance tests that are being accepted for their selected courses in order to apply for KGMU admissions for a variety of UG and PG courses. However, the only way to apply for the BSc course is through the official KGMU website (kgmu.org). Before the application deadline, qualified individuals can apply for the tests by completing an application.

Merit lists of the top-scoring applicants will be created following the start of the relevant exam. For the final seat allocation, these candidates must register and take part in the course-specific counseling process.

Eligibility

KGMU admission is mostly entrance-based for top UG & PG courses in the field of Medical. Candidates have to meet the basic eligibility requirements of the respective courses to apply for the desired programme. Further, the final seat allotment is done based on UP NEET UG/ PG and NEET SS counselling process. KGMU admission process begins with the applications of various national-level entrance exams.

All BDS students must complete a one-year compulsory rotatory internship at the FDS Dental Hospital, gaining practical exposure in all specialties. KGMU’s infrastructure boasts the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre. With state–of–the–art audio-visual facilities, the centre was a project by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and is used for national and international-level scientific and cultural functions of the university. The auditorium consists of 3 halls with 200, 400 and 1,050 seats and can be used for plays, music, as well as films. The university campus also hosts a guesthouse with high-speed Wi-Fi, well-appointed single and double rooms, and meeting rooms, offering a peaceful and secure environment, whilst ensuring proximity to the college, teaching hospital and academic departments.

Hostel

The campus provides separate hostels for male and female students with well-furnished rooms, Wi-Fi, mess facilities, and 24-hour water and power supply.
