College of Veterinary Science located in Khanapara Guwahati Assam was established in 1948 at Nagaon as the Assam Veterinary College. Initially offering a three year diploma course with 33 students it relocated to its current Khanapara campus in 1960. In 1969 the college became a constituent of Assam Agricultural University AAU Jorhat. In 2024 it was integrated into the newly formed Assam Veterinary and Fishery University AVFU established to specialize in veterinary and fishery sciences.
