The Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) is a self-financing private engineering college established and promoted by the Federal Bank Officers’ Association Educational Society (FBOAES). The FBOAES is an initiative of the Federal Bank Officers’ Association (FBOA), the sole representative body of all Federal Bank officers. Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) occupies a unique position in South India’s Professional Education Sector. FISAT has been designed and developed to become a “Centre of Excellence” in professional education, with the motto “Focus on Excellence.” Established in 2002, the college has carved a niche for itself in the education sector, as evidenced by its students’ outstanding performance in academics, placements, and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. FISAT has launched an ambitious plan to improve the quality and value of education while also developing high-quality individuals. The institution is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A+’ grade in the 2nd cycle. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited five B.Tech programmes. The institution is also ISO 9001:2015 certified. FISAT is located in Mookannoor, near Angamaly in Ernakulam District, Kerala, the birthplace of The Federal Bank Ltd. founder, Late K P Hormis, and the campus is named “Hormis Nagar” in his honour. FISAT is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. FISAT offers seven B.Tech engineering programmes, an MBA programme (with specialisations in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Information System, Production & Operations Management, and International Business), an MCA programme, five M.Tech programmes and PhD programmes.

The curriculum I relevant to the industry. Our college has good infrastructure and facilities. Placements: Almost 95% of MCA students in our senior batch got placed in reputed companies like IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Federal Bank, etc.

FISAT probably has one of the best trained students in the state and this is clearly indicated by the high acceptability of its graduates in the industry. A consistent focus on quality has enabled the placement and training cell to make commendable achievements over the years in campus recruitment processes. The fact that all eligible, interested students are able to find a job from campus in spite of the ups and downs in the market has been the highlight of the achievements.

FISAT ensures that the students are groomed according to the requirements of industry. In addition to the persistent academic rigour with focus on quality projects, internships and acquiring updated knowledge, every student is made to go through a series of soft skill enhancement training programs during their course for nearly 100 hours. This holistic approach moulds an industry ready professional who can take up the challenges of the modern world.

The fact that our students are placed in MNCs like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, SAP, Wipro, CTS, IBS, UST Global, Government and Public Sector companies like BARC, ONGC, Powergrid, Delhi Metro and commercial banks like Federal Bank, South Indian Bank, Core Engineering companies like MRF, Apollo Tyres, Sobha, Procsys, Kalkitech etc speaks volumes about the professional excellence of students.

The major activities of the Placement and Training Cell include

Coordinating the Campus placement activities of the college
Conducting regular training for improving the soft-skills
Conducting regular tests, GD`s and Mock Interviews
The major thrust area of the placement cell is training programs. Every student undergoes at least 150 hours of training programs which is spread across the years of study. They are trained by the best in the industry. Career guidance and placement orientation is ensured through sessions organised in-house and support from experts from outside. Guidance on how to prepare for various competitive exams like GATE, CAT, MAT, GRE, UPSC, PG entrance examinations etc. are also provided.

I haven't opted for any educational loan. I had a scholarship for the first year. This was availed just by submitting a form to the college. They will handle rest of the headache. College offered a fee waiver for backward community who were good at studies.

The college master plan envisages a three storeyed main building consisting of a central block with college office, central library, main computer centre, office of the principal, conference hall, seminar halls, etc housed in it; and two major side building complexes housing all the class rooms, drawing halls, tutorial halls, departmental offices, libraries and computer centers.

FISAT Library is the soul of the institution and it acquires, processes, preserves and disseminates information to the user community with the motto of focus on excellence. It has an extensive collection of books, reference materials for satisfying the academic and research needs of the students and faculty. FISAT Library and Information Centre consists of a reference section, circulation section and periodical section. The library has automated all its activities to provide an effective and wide range of academic resources such as books, journals, online databases.

Laboratory building complexes, boys and girls hostels, staff quarters, college canteen, stadium with all modern facilities for sports and games, gymnasium, Internet Cafe, language lab, road network, electric power generating system etc are available. FISAT gives paramount importance to the safe transport of students and staff to the institution and back home. To ensure safe travel, the institution has its own fleet of buses. An efficient transportation system is operating in FISAT with a fleet of 30 buses plying on various routes of the city, thus providing easy access even from the remote areas of the district. The bus facility is available to the day scholar students on all working days. Hostel students also can avail the bus facility for going home on weekends/holidays by availing the bus coupon facility. The laboratory and workshop building complexes for Electrical Engg, Electronics Engg, Computer Engg, Instrumentation Engg, Civil & Mechanical Engg have all been constructed according to prevailing standards and are fully operational. Three large building complexes have been built outside the main building for the above purposes. An auditorium with seating capacity for 800 is in use with high-tech audio equipments and stage arrangements. Air-conditioned Seminar halls with LCD projector are available for conducting various technical programs.
