ABOUT

Fr.Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (Fr.CRCE) is one of the renowned, premier and sought-after private Engineering colleges. The Institute is dedicated to making a difference in Engineering education, with its exclusive approach towards the ongoing momentum of trends in technology and holistic development.

Beginning with an orphanage (BalBhavan) and a trade school in carpentry, the Agnel Ashram (set up in 1957 at Bandra, Mumbai) has today grown into a full-fledged Technical Complex. The Institute today proudly bears the founder's name as a fitting tribute to his impassioned faith in highly-qualified and fully-trained engineers and technicians in the service of the nation.

The Institute started with only one programme in Production Engineering in 1984 with an intake capacity of 60 students. In 1987, the programme in Electronics Engineering was started with an intake capacity of 60 students followed by Computer Engineering in 1991 with an intake capacity of 60 students. In 2001, the programme in Information Technology was started with an intake capacity of 30 students which was later increased to 60 in 2010. The College started offering Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in the year 2005, each having an intake capacity of 18. Doctoral programs in Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering commenced in 2014 and 2015 respectively. From the year 2019, a new Undergraduate degree programme in Mechanical Engineering has been started with an intake capacity of 60. Also, the BE undergraduate programme in Electronics Engineering has been changed to Electronics and Computer Science. The Undergraduate programme in Information Technology has been merged with Computer Engineering. From the year 2020, college is offering new undergraduate programme in the emerging area of 'Al & Data Science'.

Based on the Outcome-based Education (OBE) parameters and criteria, three programmes of the Institute have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA-India) for a period of three years valid until June 2022.

The Institute has been consistently ranked highly in major surveys like the NIRF, TOI, INDIA TODAY to name a few. The college is ranked among the top 300 Engineering institutes of the country by NIRF 2020, conducted by MHRD. Based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) parameters and criteria, three programmes of the institute have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA-India) form 2017. The current accreditation is valid until June 2023. The college is also a NAAC accredited. CRCE Admission Process

CRCE Mumbai Admissions: Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai offers admissions for three levels of courses. The CRCE Mumbai admissions offer for 4 UG, 1 PG, and 2 Doctoral courses. Before applying for the CRCE Mumbai admissions the candidate must appear for the entrance exam such as MHT CET/JEE Main/GATE and secure a valid score. The CRCE Mumbai admissions will be based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination and merit scored in past academics. The shortlisted candidates should attend the counselling session. Scholarships

CRCE provides a range of Government and Non-Government Scholarships to help and promote higher education. The scholarships offered through Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering are listed below.

Government Scholarship Schemes:

Awarded to students in the Reserved category Students who fall under categories such as the SC/ ST/ OBCor SBCor VJ category, NT-1,2,3 categories, and who are admitted to the institution via the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) are eligible for this award. The applicant need to have an account at the Nationalized Bank and the student must be one of the three youngest children (i.e the 4th child isn't qualified).

EBC Scholarship offered by DTE Only those who have been accepted through the CAP process are eligible. The income of the family of the student must be less than INR 8. Lakhs.

AICTE Scholarship Schemes:

Pragati (Scholarship for Girls) The scholarship can be accessed by female students. It was established as an initiative to increase the number of students who attend college girl kids, this scholarship is provided by all institutions accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Postgraduate Scholarship – This scholarship is only available to students who have been accepted to an AICTE accredited institution and have passed the program through GATE/GPAT entrance tests. The scholarship is worth INR 12.400 per month for those who are eligible.

SSPCA (Support students participating in competition abroad) Students who participate in teams of 2-10 students from a technical school are eligible for this award. Students who are pursuing Engineering (PG or UG) who are invited for a contest that is accepted at this International Scientific Event abroad can apply for this award. Each student is entitled one INR Lakh.

SAKSHAM (Scholarship for students with disabilities) All students who suffer from disabilities of physical or mental nature can apply for this award. This program was created in HRD's Ministry of HRD to encourage disabled students to take up higher education.

Non-Government Scholarship Schemes:

The purpose of these scholarships is to provide help for students who are financially behind but are academically worthy. The award is made to students who are selected by the institute on a set of requirements. The scholarship will help the students with all their educational costs throughout their course. They offer them employment opportunities.

CRCE Placements

Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai has a separate training & placement Cell that has been actively involved in recruiting and career counselling for students. The CRCE Mumbai Placement Cell acts as a link between the corporate world and students. CRCE Mumbai placement cell always acted as a compass for students, helping them to identify and improve their abilities, talents, strengths, and limitations. The CRCE Mumbai placement cell organised a variety of informed and engaging seminars, workshops, and sessions with the goal of reducing the skills gap between what companies need and what students possess.

·         Pre-placement talks will be conducted for students by the company.

·         Then there will be a selection process.

CRCE Facilities

Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai offers various facilities on campus for students, staff and faculty. The CRCE Mumbai facilities include well-structured hostel facilities for boys and girls, a cafeteria that provides hygienic and healthy food on campus, laboratories for each department, an auditorium that is used to conduct professional and cultural activities, sports like indoor and outdoor games, a gym that is occupied with advanced equipment, and many other facilities. The CRCE Mumbai facilities include a library with a huge collection of books, magazines, and many others, and a good IT Infrastructure that provides advanced technology equipment on campus.

Common Infrastructure

• The institution has adequate facilities to fulfill the norm laid by the AICTE, DTE, and University of Mumbai. The available facilities are enhanced by addressing the needs of students and faculty to support Research and Development activities on college campuses.

• The institute has 17 classrooms, 4 tutorial rooms, 35 laboratories, 3 seminar halls, 1 auditorium, canteen, boys and girls common room, gymnasium, drawing hall, library, and computer center.

• All the classrooms and seminar halls have an LCD projector, Internet connectivity, a public addressing system, well- furnished furniture, ventilation, and luminance. Some classrooms are being fitted with Smart Boards. The institute has seminar halls to conduct different activities such as technical workshops, debate, STTPS, etc.

• The Institute has a big auditorium called Samvaad on the campus for conducting various activities. The seating capacity of the auditorium is nearly 200 students. This hall is regularly used for conducting placement activities, seminars, cultural events and conferences at the college, state and national levels.

• Each department has well-equipped laboratories as per norms. Laboratories are regularly maintained and updated. The Charts and models are displayed in the laboratories for a better understanding of theory and practical concepts.

 • Central Library has a compilation of books, journals, web-based resources, audio/video materials, etc with the latest software for efficient functioning. It has a Digital library with 15 dedicated computers on which students can access journals, NPTEL video, e-books. The Library is using commercial software Web OPAC for automation of Library Services.

• Exclusively, Training and Placement (T & P) cell provides adequate infrastructure for training, placement and co-curricular activities. It has dedicated cubicles and seminar hall to carry out different activities of T&P such as pre-placement talk, Interviews, Soft Skill Training, and Workshops, etc.

• For the physically impaired (Divyangjan) students, the institute provides ramps and elevators.

• The institute has a football ground, volleyball court, and basketball court. Facilities for indoor games like carom, table tennis and chess are available. A gymnasium is also provided for students.

• The college has policies, for the creation and enhancement of infrastructure in order to promote a good teaching-learning environment. The need for infrastructure is analyzed regularly, based on the department's requirements. Further, the top management periodically discusses with Principal and HODS regarding the enhancement of infrastructural facilities to enable a suitable environment for the effective teaching-learning process.
