GKM College of Engineering & Technology, also referred to as GKMCET, a unit of GKM Group of Educational Institutions, is a popular institution attracting students to its campus. It is a premier technical educational institution established in the year 1996 by Dr.G.Kathamuthu, Founder-Chairman of GKM Group of Educational Institutions, along with Dr.Sujatha Balasubramanian as Chief Executive Officer, Dr.N.S.Bhuvaneswari as the Principal who is a unique professor of International repute, having more than 34 years of service with strong technical, academic, managerial, industrial, and research experience as well as expertise in implementation and management of IT systems for educational and organizational requirements. The College is effectively run by Suganthi Educational Trust.

GKMCET is spread over a sprawling and quiet 10 acres of land in serene ambiance in GKM Nagar, Perungalathur, near Tambaram, Chennai. The college is located about 5 km off Tambaram on the  Chennai-Chengalpet National Highway (NH45).

GKM College of Engineering & Technology is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The college has an effective QMS covering teaching learning and all other supporting activities. GKMCET, is an ISO 9001:2008 (by IRQS) certified Institute. The College is accredited by NBA and NAAC with 'A' Grade and also accredited by International Accreditation Organization. GKMCET has MoU with Middle East University FZE, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

The College offers a number of undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctorate programs in the field of Engineering and Technology including 10 UG, 14 PG and 3 Ph.D programmes and holds memberships with ISTE, CII, MMA, IEEE.Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi). Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are permanently affiliated by Anna University, Chennai. Department of Marine Engineering is rated by CRISIL.

Admission Procedure

Placements are benchmark to the performance of any management institute and it depicts the success and the growth of the institutions. The Objective of the placement cell is to facilitate the process of placement & ensure that each eligible student gets an opportunity in the industries. The cell aims to achieve 100% placement assistance to our students. The cell consists of student placement representatives and the placement coordinator from each department.We work on placing our students with core companies of the respective discipline of education. The students are placed according to their interest and skill that are set by the organizations where they can work and also increase their creativity & innovation in the development of technology as well as the organization.India’s best corporate are where our Alumni are presently working. Recruitment Process

The placement committee with the objective of 100% opportunity for the students in the interview starts their placement activity in the June every year.

The placement office liaises with the industry and corporate offices which conducts their recruitment activity with the colleges. A good number of reputed companies have conducted campus recruitment in our college and many more have expressed their desire to come for assessment of the college as per their norms. The corporate offices are requested to provide us with their requirement, job description and their norms.The job descriptions are put in the notice board of the placement office. The placement cell also has the database of the eligible students with them. The students who are really passionate for the job profile are expected to register their name in the placement cell.

Ganapathia pillai Block is a separate building is constructed exclusively for Civil Department, Aeronautical Department and Automobile Engineering Department with an excellent Lab for Physics, Chemistry, Workshop and Drawing hall. A separate Computer Lab of 60 Systems is constructed with the configuration of Pentium III for the freshers in 30,000 Sq.ft. Building.This Block is exclusively designed to fulfill the needs of Marine Department students with perfect lab facilities in 12,000 Sq.ft. Building.This Block is constructed exclusively for the Electronics & Communication Department, Electrical and Electronics Department & Computer Science Department in 20000 Sq.ft. with a perfect Micro Processor lab & Micro Wave Labs.
