G. Madegowda Institute of Technology, Mandya was established by the Bharathi Education Trust in the year 2011.  The Bharathi Education Society which subsequently became the Bharathi Education Trust (BET) was founded in 1962 by Sri G. Madegowda, the honourable ex-member of parliament and former minister, Govt. of Karnataka. It is aimed at fulfilling all the educational, cultural, social and other aspirations of the people in and around Bharathinagara, which was then a small hamlet of no significance. Sri G. Madegowda is the Founder Chairman of the Trust and his sincere, unrelenting efforts have led to the establishment of several institutions at Bharathinagara, Hanumanthanagara and Kirugavalu under the auspices of B.E.T.  The pronounced goal of the Trust is to provide value based education at an affordable cost and inculcating among students Gandhian values.

 
GMIT Mandya is situated in the 27 acre BET Campus in Bharathinagara (KM Doddi), Maddur Taluk, Mandya District, Karnataka. It is just 90 kms far from Bengaluru.  The Institute can be reached via Maddur on Bengaluru-Mysore (SH-7) highway. It is just 20kms from Mandya and about 60kms from Mysore. Mysore Airport is 68kms away from G. Madegowda Institute of Technology. The nearest Railway Station, Maddur Railway Station is 16 kms from the college.

 
The G. Madegowda Institute of Technology is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and is recognised by the Government of Karnataka.  It is approved by the AICTE and Accredited by NBA, New Delhi.

 
G. Madegowda Institute of Technology currently offers programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the undergraduate level, GMIT Mandya offers the BE Degree programs in 5 disciplines and B.Tech program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program. At the postgraduate level, the Institute offers M.Tech program in 2 disciplines. To take admission in the BE/B.Tech programs the candidates should have a valid score in COMEDK UGET or KCET Exam    and as for admissions to the MTech course a valid score in Karnataka PGCET/GATE is a must.

GMIT, Mandya provides various facilities to the students in the college campus. The excellent Infrastructural facilities include Classrooms, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Central Library, Departmental Libraries, Laboratories, Swimming Pool and Playground.  The Institute provides Medical and Transport facility along with very good IT Infrastructure.  It also provides various Indoor & Outdoor Games and Sports facilities as well as various academic and non-academic activities like cultural events for the students thereby encouraging them to showcase their extra-curricular abilities.

 
The Placement Department of G. Madegowda Institute of Technology, Mandya handles all the Placement related activities on the campus. It provides Placement Assistance to both the undergraduate and postgraduate students by organising various training programs to improve Leadership Qualities, Employability Skills and overall Personality Development of the students. About Placement Department

The Placement department is an integral part of GMIT connecting students of the various departments. The department has the best infrastructure for the smooth conduction of training and placement activities. The department works in close co-ordination with the Industry Relations Executives and the Department Placement Coordinators which comprises of both students and faculty members nominated from individual departments. The department has been instrumental in providing necessary skill set to all UG and PG students to develop their employability skills, leadership qualities and personality development. The major objective of campus placement is to identify the talented and qualified professionals before they complete their education. It provide employment opportunities to students who are pursuing or in the final stage of completing the course. Placement Department is established as an integral part of the College with an active role in career services for the qualified students. The aim is to find "Right Job for the Right candidate". We are committed for "EXCELLENCE IN CAREER GUIDANCE" and to achieve good placements. Services are provided throughout the year to prepare students and help secure placements. Every student pursuing a professional career in engineering has an ambition to obtain a challenging job in a company of repute and make a successful career. The Department conducts various training sessions for students by eminent trainers from the industry and conduct workshops, Technical Talk and seminar to enhance their skills.

We had scholarship facility that helped us lot to be self dependent. We had annual scholarship of minimum 16000 rupees. But we had scholarship every year. We gad around 16 thousand per year as scholarship based on our aggregate and total income of family.

Campus Amenities
The college has adopted"Knowledge is Empowering"its theme & all the programs are focused on this theme. G Madegowda Institute of Technology (GMIT) has taken a leading role to uphold the entrepreneurial culture in Mandya District to motivate & guide young entrepreneurs, by giving consultancy & supporting services. GMIT is located in Bharathinagar, Mandya, Karnataka which is close to district Head Quarters, is at a distance of 90 km from Bangalore on SH-17 and is well connected by public transport and college buses. It has salubrious climate similar to that of Bangalore. The district is famous for many historical and tourist places.

Hostel
GMIT has separate hostels for Boys and Girls with well furnished rooms. We run our hostels in a green and peaceful environment which welcomes students. These hostels will accommodate more than 750 students comfortably. The hostel cleanliness conform to top hygienic standards. Mess facilities are also available to provide the hostliers with nutritious and quality food. Each room in all the hostels has been furnished with cots, tables, chairs, book racks and a ceiling fan.

Library
The GMIT has a Central Library and 5 departmental libraries which collectively support the learning, teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership.

Placement and Training
The placement cell in our institute is taking care of in-plant training, apprentice training along with placement activities & is headed by a well experienced Placement and Training Officer to Assist the students in career guidance, placement and to liaison with Business Institutions and Industries. It helps the students to develop contacts with the companies, while undergoing on the job training and doing their project work and for final placement in reputed industries and organization.

Sports
“Sound mind requires sound body” – to achieve this, GMIT encourages its students to take part in the sports activities. Students are trained under the guidance of qualified Physical Education Trainer & have achieved excellence in District level in sports activities. Recently GMIT conducted ‘VTU-Mysore Zonal Kabbadi Tournament".

Co-Curricular
Industrial visit for the students of all the departments. Skills development programmes are conducted. Encourage and train the students to attend national/international conferences and workshops. Organizing national conference “G’Tech” every year. Encourage and allow the students to attend various technical programs held over various colleges. Students have attended FSMK (Free Software Movement in Karnataka) 10 days camp held at DSCE, Bangalore. Students have presented papers in National conference “PAANCHAJANYA -2014” held at EIT, Chamarajnagar and won 1st prize.

Cultural
GMIT always ahead in establishing a high standard of ethical and moral values in student community. It is a very important aim of GMIT that the students to be trained morally, culturally and ethically on the right side of every aspect.

Transport
A full-fledged Transport department functions in the college with buses to provide transport facility to students and staff from various places. This service is offered ensuring a hassle-free and safe transportation. The College runs buses for providing transport facility to students from various places in the city. In addition to college transport public transport, private transport facility is also available as they ply very frequently on highways from all the places like malavalli, maddur, mysore and Mandya with scheduled stop in front of college.
