Government College for boys is centrally located and is in the heart of Kolar Town. It is easily accessible to students of surrounding areas as it lies in close proximity to Railway and Bus Stations.

The College has an imposing ‘U’ Structured building which very impressive. Initially, the college was stated as an Intermediate College in the year 1948 in the erstwhile jail building (which housed the prisoners and after the prisoners were sent reformation centre). Due to sincere and dedicated efforts of Prof. K. Ramakrishna Udupa, the then Principal of the College whose tenure lasted for 11 years from 1964 to 1974, we have the present grand structure constructed by the P.W.D of Government of Karnataka.

The College have the Development counsel under the presidency of Sri. Vartur Prakash, sitting MLA to look over developmental affairs of the Institution, and lead the institution in the right direction.

The whole admission process for all the courses offered is offline and merit-based. Any candidate who fulfills the minimum eligibility criteria can take part in the admission process. Admission to all the courses is based on the marks scored by the applicant in the concerned qualifying examination.
