Government College of Engineering, Bargur is one of the educational institutions developed by Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1994 to cater to the needs of the nation in the development of technocrats and to provide facilities for educating and training men and women in order to meet the entrepreneurial and management needs.  This GEC started functioning on 9^th September 1994 in two buildings in Government Polytechnic campus, Krishnagiri as a temporary measure and admitted students for EEE and ECE branches only. The College was moved from there to its present Bargur campus in July 2000 when Prof Jameel was Principal I/c.

Government College of Engineering, Bargur is located Madepalli Village on NH46, on a site surrounded by hills, between Vaniyambadi and Krishnagiri  just 4 Kms West of Bargur.   Patchur Railway Station is 29.9 km away and it will take around 30 minutes to reach the college.  Kempegowda International Airport , Bengaluru  is the nearest airport  which  is around 140 km away from the GCE Bargur.  The Bargur Bus Depot is 11.8 km away from the collegeThe college is well connected by all modes of transport.

GEC, Bargur is affiliated to the Anna University, and has been approved by the AICTE. The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). GCEB is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Tamil Nadu Government has created adequate infrastructural facilities and sufficient funds and is keen on developing the institute for higher education. The Institute offers 4 UG and 3 PG courses for a total of 477 seats.  These programs are offered in Full Time mode.  Government College of Engineering, Bargur is a premier institute for B.E. /B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. courses.  Over the period, the college has gained expertise through almost 50 numbers of its trained and experienced faculty in the fields of Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering.   The accepted Entrance Exams are TNEA, CBSE 12^th.  Admission to the college is purely based on merit.  Scholarship opportunities are also provided to deserving and merit students. Final year students are also provided with the placement opportunities. Admission Procedure

Government College of Engineering Bargur offers admission to a total of 8 courses in the field of Engineering and Architecture, Computer Application and IT. For GCE Bargur admission to the B.E courses will be done on the basis of the students performance in 10+2 examination. Further, the shortlisted candidates have to appear for a TNEA counselling process and seats will be allotted on the basis of merit. Admission to the M.E courses will be done on the basis of entrance examination (GATE/TANCET) followed by a TANCA counselling process. • A merit list will be prepared by DOTE and the cutoff will be released based on the marks of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2.

M.E - 2 Year Course

Admission Process

The college offers a total of 3 postgraduate courses in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Electronics, and Power Electronics and Drives. All three courses are offered in full-time mode.

Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP FOR PG STUDENTS:

The scholarship of amount Rs.6000/- per month is provided by Government of Tamilnadu for PG students (First top 300 TANCET Scores) admitted in Anna University, Anna University Constituent Colleges, Government and Government Aided Colleges in Tamilnadu.
