Government College of Engineering, (GCE) Dharmapuri, was established in 2013 and is a Fruition of the far reaching vision of Dr J Jayalalitha, then Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, (vide G.O Ms. No.11, dated 30.1.2013) This was the 10th State Government Owned Engineering College in Tamil Nadu.
Government College of Engineering, Dharmapuri is located on a campus of 20.97 Acres at the foothills of the thickly forested hillocks on a sprawling land area and situated at Chettikkarai Post, Dharmapuri District. The Nearest Railway Station is Dharmapuri at a distance of 8.4 Kms. The Nearest Bus Stand is Dharmapuri, 5.4 Kms from the College.GCE, Dharmapuri is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE, New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. This college offers 5 B.E Regular Full-Time Courses in different Disciplines with an approved Intake of 60 Students per B.E Course (Total of 300 Students p/a) The College offers Scholarships to deserving Students. The Central Library, the seat of wisdom and source of knowledge extended over an area of 528.15 sq.mt is situated in a cozy atmosphere conducive for the pursuit of higher studies. It is equipped with books on various engineering subjects such as Electronics Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Computer Science Engineering and Science and Humanities subjects. This Library provides numerous books to enlighten the faculty and the students, to ignite them to take wings, to expose them to the recent issues to keep them abreast of their own field, to teach them universal values, to make them independent to fulfill the dream of self-empowerment and to make them a holistic personality. This library, a window to the world equips the students with a soft weapon called knowledge and the spirit of questioning which make them employable and triumphant in their future endeavors and inspire them towards collective good,  NRSC (Non Resident Student Canteen) functions within the campus for the convenience of the dayscholar students and the staffs.A gym room is available to the students.A Guest House with 6 rooms with attached bathrooms and a dining hall caters to the needs of visitors and guests.A spacious auditorium with a 250-seat capacity is available.

There are separate boys’ and girls’ hostels, collectively accommodating around 800 students, Breakdown per academic year is as follows (same for boys and girls), Hostel rooms are non-AC, with 3 students sharing a room typically. Each furnished with bed, table, chair, and wardrobe. Facilities include 24/7 water, electricity, hygiene, and security
