Government Engineering College, Haveri was one of the top colleges established in the year 2007 by Government of Karnataka with the sole intention of imparting technical education to the economically deprived rural mass at at affordable fees so that it can elevate the living standards of rural population. The dream of Govt. of Karnataka is well realized through the structured efforts put forth by a dedicated team of the institution.

Government Engineering College, Haveri is located in a sprawling Campus of 33 acres at Devagiri, Haveri, Karnataka. The nearest Airport is Hubli Airport which is 75 kms away from the campus. The nearest Railway Station is Karajgi Railway Station which is 4 kms away from the college.

The college is situated on a small hillock of 33 acres land and is surrounded by many water bodies in a village called Devagiri which is 10km from Haveri town.  District Commissioner’s office is nearby to the college. Sorrounding greenary fills enthusiasm and energy in the minds of the students. The silent and serene environment of the college makes it an ideal temple for learning.

Government Engineering College, Haveri comes under the Administration of the Director of Technical Education, Bangalore. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.  It is recognised by the AICTE, New Delhi. 

The college offers four UG courses – BE in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering with intake of 60 in each course. In 2011, the college has started PG course in Structural Engineering and Machine Design in 2015 with an intake of 18 as VTU extension center.  Department of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are also recognised as research center to carry out various researches leading to Ph.D Degree.

Government Engineering College, Haveri provides adequate facilities like Hostel, Library, Medical, Sports and various other facilities to the students.  

The college has a team of dedicated, well qualified, sincere and student friendly staff who impart knowledge with the interest of the students at the forefront.  The administrative staff  extend their hands in the developmental activities of the college.  Most of the laboratories are well developed with basic facilities and few are under developmental stage.

A dedicated Placement Cell of GECH interacts with the reputed organizations all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the final year students. The Cell organizes technical seminars, workshops and corporate expectation sessions. Industry personnel are invited periodically to enrich the knowledge of our student community with the latest technological innovations and industry practices.  The Placement Cell ensures that the students are well equipped to handle the working norms of the industry and commerce in the public and private sectors and helps every student to define his/her career interest through individual counseling with the help of experts.

Admission takes place through the KCET exam and PGCET exam.

Fees structure and scholarship is The college fees totally depend on your category and reservation You have to fill the KCET application form neatly The college fee for GM students is 38000 The paid fees will get refunded by applying for ssp scholarship

CAMPUS AND INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES:

The main building consists of ground floor, first floor and second floor. Administrative office, Seminar hall, Mechanical Engineering Department and its Classrooms, VTU Valuation Center is located in Ground floor. Department of Chemistry, Civil Engineering and Electronics Engineering Departments and the respective Labs and Classrooms are located in Second floor. Department of Physics, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, its Labs and Classrooms are present in Third floor.

The Govt. Engineering College Library acts as a central knowledge centre for students and faculty of the college and the collection of this knowledge center comprise of documents in engineering subjects (Civil, E&C, Mechanical and CS & E). Efforts are ongoing to provide computerized library services by skilled Information professionals and systematic organization of documents are the major functions of the library. It has a collection of over 14000+ Volumes and 3000+ titles that supplement the teaching, research and development of the Institution.

The Library is a membership of VTU Consortium. Through this consortium, Govt. Engineering college community is being received an access to National and International peer reviewed e-Journals from IEEE, ASCE, Science Direct, Springer, J-Gate, Taylor and Francis, EBSCO, McGraw Hill database & Turnitin platform is based on IP access within the college campus. The Library is also enabled cloud based remote access service to all its students and faculty for accessing content from out-side the college or off campus.

From the recent past, Karnataka Examination Authority provided necessary books grant to expand library’s collection to help enormously to develop itself and bolster the educational and research needs of the college. Social Welfare Department, GoK also helped in building SC/ST Book Bank in the library. It has also been enriching by donations of valuable books from students and faculty

Hostel: A hostel is attached to the Institute having 20 rooms with Mess facilities for boys. Girl students are accommodated in Haveri city

Extra Curricular Activities: Students are encouraged to participate in inter and intra college sports and other activities. Alumni Association: Institute has an Alumni Association. The Alumni of the Institute has spread all over India in Industry, Research Organizations, Government Services and other related fields. Also, alumni of the Institute have spread to nearly all countries.

Physical Education and Sports

Physical Education is a sequential educational program. It is based on physical activities undertaken in an active, caring, supportive and no threatening atmosphere in which every student is challenged and successful. Students with disabilities are provided with a learning environment that is modified, when necessary, to allow for maximum participation. The department’s approach to teaching physical education is student centered and participation based. It seeks to address students’ needs for a healthy body and lifestyle. Our courses vary according to experience and skill level. They also include individual and team lifetime sports and fitness endeavors geared toward developing both the skills and knowledge to build a healthy, physically active lifestyle. The main components of these activity-based courses are technique, strategy, fitness/health, and exercise science principles. In addition to addressing students’ curricular and physical-education needs, the Department provides opportunities for all students to participate in the lifetime fitness, intramural sports, and intercollegiate sport programs mentioned above.
