Government Engineering College Ramanagara (GECR)

Government Engineering College (GECR), Ramanagara is one of the 10 Engineering Colleges established in the academic year 2007 by the Government of Karnataka under the Directorate of Technical Education.  GECR is one such prestigious college which was started with an objective to nurture the young talent of economically weaker sections of society from rural Karnataka.

GECR Campus is spread over 19.3 acres of land in Doddamannina Gudde, Near Janapadaloka, B.M. Road, Ramanagara, Karnataka.  Ramanagara district was carved out of the erstwhile Benguluru Rural in August 2007 which is houses several large and medium scale industries situated at Bidadi and Harohally industrial area.  Ramnagara is approximately 50 kms southwest of Bangalore City.  GECR, situated on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway, away from the hustle and bustle of city is very conducive for academic activities. It is very well connected by Rail, Road and Air with all the major cities in India.

GEC Ramanagara is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgavi and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

This institution offers four Full time B. E. Degree courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 60 seats each. The admission process of students to BE Degree program is done by centralized selection through Common Entrance test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), while the approval of students admitted to first year Engineering and Lateral entry Diploma students to second year Engineering is granted by the Directorate Technical Education and VTU Belgaum.  More than 70% of the students who join this institution belong to SC/ST/OBC categories and majority of them hail from economically and socially weaker sections from rural area.

GEC Ramanagara imparts quality technical education with focus on providing balanced education and overall development of the students embedded with human values. State-of-the-art facilities are provided in the College and the facilities are upgraded regularly with the funds received from State Government, local M. P grant and Research establishments.  The Amenities and Facilities provided by GECR are Library, Hostel, Sports & Games, Cultural Events, NSS, Infosys Springboard, Scholarships, Institute Innovation Council, Learning Management System, Training & Placement Cell, and much more.  The dedicated Placement Cell provides all the support for the students to be well placed in their careers.  The Cell bridges the Students and the Corporates by conducting all required Placement activities.  Some of the Top Recruiters include Accenture, Capgemini, HCL, IBM, Infosys, BYJUs, Toyota, Amazon, Fedex, Siemens, CADD Cenntre, CTS, TCS, HP, TCE, Wipro, Ultratech, Flipkart, EXL, to name just a few.

The college has a team of experienced and well trained Faculty whose timely support enables the students to achieve high level of skills expected by the industry & society. They have also produced several Research publications, patents, published in reputed peer reviewed journals and conferences in addition to their innovative projects.

The Government Engineering College, Ramanagara, is running four engineering academic departments since 2007. Here, the departments are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering with an office having Teaching staff. Further, number of students 968 and a yearly intake 60 in each branch along with 15% lateral entry in 3rd semester. The admission process of students to Engineering college is done by centralized selection by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) while the approval of students admitted to first year Engineering and lateral entry Diploma students to second year Engineering is granted by the Directorate Technical Education and VTU Belgaum.
